If he's healthy and with everything here going on hell yeah .... give them Lonzo and Kuzma fill in the picks and money to balance with hopefully losing no one else. But Kawhi has to do his part with leveraging the situation. Not weanieing out like PG did. Keep BI, keep Randle, keep Hart. Let BI run the point with quick adjustments to a good backup PG maybe even a little Josh Hart with what it sounds like they have him working toward.

    What a freaking roster

    Leonard
    Ingram
    George
    James
    Randle
    Hart
Lopez (hell yeah he would stay for that)

    Footnote to the Kawhi situation:

If only one of PG or Bron sign in free agency and July 16th comes and goes without a Kawhi extension...something could be up.

I'm really getting curious about how this is going to work out.

Woj in the same piece said Boston put a bid in on Kawhi, but that they'd be unlikely to unload their young core at this point to move for Kawhi now given how successful they've been. I read that Boston is more likely to sit tight and let their guys heal up and get back out there in Hayward and Kyrie. If LeBron really leaves the East, they're in a position to dominate for a long time. So if they're out and it's between us and Philadelphia as places who can offer big pieces... We've got better pieces than they do that we could part with.

If Kawhi demanded a trade, we'd be in a terrific place to make an offer. Something like Ingram/Randle sign and trade makes a ton of sense for both sides given Kawhi demanded a trade. The Lakers could trot out:

    Lonzo
    George
    Kawhi
    LeBron
    Lopez

Then bring in Kuzma for the killer lineup.

This whole thing is just bizarre. I hope he becomes available and I hope we can get him.

That's monstrous. Hart off the bench, too.

I think SAS offers the supermax and let’s it be known to save face but actively looks to trade Kawhi.

If they use their offer of the supermax as leverage, they won’t get low balled offers. I mean how many MVP candidates have been traded in history during their prime?

I think they ask a lot for him. I could see Ingram/Kuzma/Randle/two 1sts being the deal. That’s a similar kind of deal the lakers got from Miami for Shaq in a similar situation.

It’s a tough pill to swallow to lose 3 of our best youngsters.

With PG Lebron and Kawhi we’d have a dominant team, and a cap of 120+?

Exactly...once pen goes to paper on a supermax deal, Kawhi is stuck in SA for a year.

IF he truly doesn't want to remain in SA and wants to come back home, he leverages SA with a S&T (5 years 188M vs supermax of 5 years 219M) to LA so that SA can at least get some assets in return. Otherwise he walks to LA in '19 (if we still have cap space) and takes 4 years 140M and tries to salvage the rest with a new shoe deal in a bigger market.

And if leveraged with LA, then guess what, we don't have to give up such a massive haul. Its going to be interesting what George does this summer, cause, IF Kawhi forces his way here, SA can move him to another team like Indy did with George, but then that team risks losing him to us anyways when free agency comes around.

They can ask, but that won't be return they get for him. That's insanity. Nobody is giving that up for a guy who missed almost an entire year, is on a one year contract, and just forced his way out of what is widely considered the most stable franchise in basketball.

What did Cousins return for? What did George? That's way more likely to be similar to Kawhi's return barring Boston throwing themselves and all their draft picks into the mix. Even then, they're not going to offer Tatum/Brown/Horford/picks. No way in hell.

Ball, Randle s/t, and whatever picks needed to get it done.

It's interesting to see the kinds of offers you guys are coming up with for a guy who would essentially be in the exact same situation as George was a year ago.

And Kawhi is better than George.

But Kawhi is still an expiring contract asking to get out. Teams NEVER get fair returns in those situations. Look at Indiana and Sacramento.

Maybe Kawhi will make it easier for us if he comes out and says "trade me to the Lakers" which I don't think PG did.

Well he did, but he was sort of soft about it. Also, I'm 100% sure the Lakers told him they'll get him in the summer if he can't get here earlier so they weren't as determined to push it. Circumstances are way different this summer.

So, I'm going to play devils advocate and say PG isn't signing with us; I still think Lebron is coming, but I'm convinced if he isn't re-signing here, then we our going to set our sights on DeAndre Jordan.

You may ask why: well, let me give you this:

Heard another report that indicated he Lebron and Lue "were pushing really hard for him." It wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm not a fan of his game, but it's one of those scenarios where Lebron has to feel comfortable he's coming into a situation with another proven piece that can help him complete.

This is taking nothing away from our roster, which I think is very talented.

    Just my 0.02 cents...

This part from Woj's article is interesting (http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...nard-san-antonio-spurs-nba-free-agency-trades):

Doesn't sound like Kawhi wants to stay there if Pop retires soon.
