    Was last with the Spurs...

Purely speculation on my part, but does Philly have an in with a Kawhi deal now?

IMO the Spurs don’t care about coaching connections, they care about winning every deal, every draft pick they make, they are like the Patriots. Philly would have to give up one of Simmons or Embiid to get Kawhi, same as we’d have to give up our best young player under contract, Ingram just as a start. We’re talking about a top 5, legit 2-way franchise player, they will get the absolute most they can for him if they can’t get him to sign an extension.

Capela looked like Crapela in that Warriors series. He looked like Zubac in Summer League last year. He was out of position, out of breath and ineffective most of the series. Anyone who pays him 25 million will regret it.

What's the timeline with Cousins recovery? I don't think he signs a one year deal cause he'll be missing most of it. Not enough time to prove himself for a bigger contract.

I read 6-10 month recovery. But this is a huge dude, I could see it taking the full 10 months and then longer to play into game shape, so like a year. I wouldn’t offer him a deal, we can’t afford to spend money on risks, or maybes that big.

I’m also a huge no on maxing Capela. No freakin way. DeAndre Jordans and Clint Capelas don’t win championships. LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Duran, Kawhi Leonard win championships, and they do it with Tristan Thompsons/Timofey Mozgovs, Andrew Boguts/JaVale McGees, and Tiago Splitters (and ok, ok, rapidly aging Tim Duncans).

I’d wrather resign Lopez than get Capela in FA if Randle is staying. Randle and Capela are redundant IMO.

And Lopez’s floor spacing and drawing out his defender is worth more than some would think.

Barns how about sign Capela then trade Randle? Capela showed he can be a legit rim protector.

LOL is Capela the flavor of the month? Lonzo is not as good as CP3 or Harden in making other players look better than they actually are.

Wow. I had no idea Capela would be so thoroughly hated. :D

He actually was fantastic in the playoffs, especially defensively. His 6.1 BLK% leads the playoffs right now. His USG% actually dipped, but his ORTG went through the roof to 132 which also leads the playoffs right now. He played really well.

Oh wait, those are numbers. Ox won't be able to tell what they are. ;)

All that said, there's other advantages to what Capela brings: athleticism and defensive versatility, but also weakening an opponent. I only do this if LeBron decides to go to Houston, mostly out of spite. I don't know about max, but we could still offer him a big contract just to f*** the Rockets over.

I’d be okay in that scenario with a max one year deal for Capela. Hurts our spacing a bit, but this lineup would be super athletic and would get after people on both sides of the court. We would need to find another pure shooter.

    C - Capela
    PF - Randle / Kuz
    SF - BI / Kuz
    SG - Hart
    PG - Zo

Again, total speculation on my part, but if Kawhi wants a bigger market, then Philly provides that and Spurs would obviously favor a trade to an eastern team than to keep him here in the West and of all places...LA with stars back in the mix.

With Colangelo most probably out, there will be a whole new way of thinking out there. Fultz, #10 are for sure part of any hypothetical package. Trading Simmons for Kawhi...one thing is certain...(if healthy) Kawhi and Embiid are sick defensively. They can be the only legit contenders against the Cbags in the lEast, once LeBrexit happens. Cbags are rumored to be moving up for Bamba, but are also rumored in offering Ky in a AD trade.

The cbags are going to get better...its inevitable. And since they're out lEast, they got the higher probability of being legit Finals participants for the foreseeable future. So as a Laker fan, if not us, I'm fine with Philly getting Kawhi as long as it makes it harder for the cbags.

Like therealdeal, I was actually kind of impressed with Capela in the playoffs. Not sure if he works with Randle though. Maybe one or the other.

yeah I don't want Capela and I don't think he's worth the max, but it's almost as if some people didn't even watch this series.

Was he invisible on offense a lot of times? Yes, but for anyone to downplay his defense is crazy. NOBODY on the Warriors could take it to the rim against him. Time and again, they'd get the switch, attack Capela, and get rejected. Their only chance of scoring on him was step back, fadeaway jumpers.

Like I said, I don't want the Lakers to sign Capela and I wouldn't give him the max, but the eye test in the playoffs showed me he was a great defender.

It’s kind of funny to bring up one player’s injuries, but ignore the player’s injuries you might be pursuing. Neither one of them has been a model of health.

Injury/surgery occurred at the end of January. So its been roughly 4 months....

1 year prove it deal with a 2nd year player option. I can think of worse deals and contingencies.

Speaking of which, seriously, just no to near max/max deals to unproven talent. If you're not a recent allstar, All-nbaer, stat leader, etc then this max ain't for you.

I thought capela played great defensively.. Hes a big reason why the guys on the perimeter took more chances on D. And hes young.
