With the Suns recent hire @ coach, let's say the Suns get the top pick, you think they trade down (a la Cbags-Philly swap) to get Luka? The Suns sure have positioned themselves to pick Luca regardless of where that pick lands. That means teams like Dallas will still have their pick of the litter of the remaining big men in the draft, which one less potential suitor for Jules.

Also Luka ain't doing any workouts for NBA teams before there draft.

I think it'd be a mistake for him to do any work outs. He's not a super athlete and his game is best on the floor in a team situation so doing individual workouts would just make him look worse.

Even if Phoenix doesn't get the 1st, it definitely looks like they're angling for Doncic. Doncic is a classic example of the type of player we like right now actually: not flashy athletic, but just a good player. I still have him distinctly behind Ayton on my draft board. You don't pass on a big with Ayton's tools.

Suns signing Kokoskov and drafting Doncic....

I remember Booker saying that he was done going fishing in April....if he is true to his words, a trade request has to be in the plans at some point this season.

I'm not much of a NCAA head, but other than Happ, none of those other guys are projected to get drafted (according to popular mock drafts).

Haven't watched anything on any of these guys.

    Quick run down:

Barefield played with Kuzma at Utah. He spent a year at SMU and transferred to Utah for two more seasons. He finally got some starts this year. Averaged 12/2/2.5 on the year.

Hayden Dalton is a sweet shooting forward out of Wyoming (Nance's alma mater). Looks like he's got some moxie. Decent athlete.

Marcus Foster is a guard for Creighton. He was dismissed from Kansas State after his sophomore season after he fell in with a bad crowd. He rebuilt his image at Creighton. Here's a good article on him, very open: https://www.cbssports.com/college-b...ton-helped-marcus-foster-reclaim-his-passion/

Factoid: he is a huge Laker fan (and Kobe fan).

Deng Adel is an athletic wing. He shot 34.8% from downtown in his three year college career.

Anas Mahmoud played all four years at Louisville and is listed as a 7 foot Forward out of Cairo, Egypt.

Lakers package BI, Deng, 2018 pick at 25 and 47 for Kawhi? Would the Spurs take that? Then the Lakers can go get Lebron and Paul George and keep Randle since so many of you love him.

Rob Gray is a 6'2" junior PG out of Houston. He's a streaky shooter, a pretty flashy kid, and a gamer. He's a Josh Hart-ish athlete: not the greatest athlete, but has good body control and strength.

Caleb Martin is a 6'7" wing that played two years for North Carolina State before heading to Nevada. He's a pretty good athlete and turned himself into a good shooter.

Jalen Hudson is a 6'5" forward out of Florida by way of Virgina Tech. He turned himself into a shooter very similar to Caleb Martin. Pretty good athlete.

Udoka Azubuike is a big ol' 7 foot sophomore out of Kansas. He's not a great athlete, but not ground bound either. He's built large and has solid footwork and body positioning. He shot a crazy 77% from the field, but that's because all of his shots are at the rim. He has no evidence of a shot at all. Shows some promise as a rim protector.

Keita Bates-Diop is by far the best prospect of the group and the only one that's likely to be looked at with our 1st round pick. He's a 6'7" senior out of Ohio State who lead that team to the NCAA tourney. He took a giant leap in production going from 10ish points a game his three previous years to nearly 20 points a game. He turned himself into a good shooter too.

BI is a solid, if not overly obvious, centerpiece in an offer for Kawhi but Deng has significantly negative trade value and the #25/#47 is not nearly enough to not only make up the gap between BI/Kawhi but also then justify the taking on of Deng and his putrid contract. Even if Kawhi tried to force a trade to the Lakers, the Spurs could realistically do better from some team willing to gamble on him as a rental in the hopes they can convince him to stay (See: George, Paul).

From the Lakers perspective, that only happens if Kawhi agrees to a sign and trade.

If I'm the Spurs, I'm not trading away my superstar to a conference team.

I mentioned last week I like Bates-Diop and Caleb Martin, so glad to hear the Lakers are bringing them in for a closer look via workouts.

    Thanks for posting this.

Every interview said the same thing: first thing is defense brought up from coaches. Caleb Martin said the Lakers presented defense as the way to separate yourself out because everyone can score a little bit. I like that.

All of these kids came off well in interviews. They all seemed intelligent and knowledgeable about not just the game, but what the Lakers were/are looking for. Good insight.
