Does that dude know who Tony Allen is? The guy shuts down superstars. I guess Kobe, Lebron, etc. are not starting material in the league. What a bozo. Since he wants to be negative.....

When JC drove the lane and pulled off the mini-hook, as a rookie mind you, it told me one day he will be a superstar in this league. Take that Mr. Gomez.

He has the skills but the best thing is that he's not afraid. he is a rookie with a coach that bench people who make mistakes, but Clarkson dosent care. he does his thing. I see in him more fire than I see in Wiggins.
Thats the ingredients to become a star.

Uh... Agreed. Takes total garbage. Rookie point guards that can put up 20ppg are not a dime a dozen in this league. Oh btw... The fact yhat they had to put one of the best defenders in the league on him tells you just how good he is. JC could very well turn out to be the biggest steal for any team in a long time.

    "Stock Report:

No rookie has been on the rise like Jordan Clarkson, and he vaults up from No. 10 to No. 7 here after continuing to make the most of his starting role for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Since Feb. 17, only Wiggins has averaged more points per game among rookies than Clarkson. And it's worth noting that the Lakers point guard has connected on 56.4 percent of his shots from the field and 42.9 percent of his threes in that span.

That's serious production, and as Clarkson continues to get comfortable, there's little reason to expect it to stop.

"He's playing much better now," Lakers head coach Byron Scott told Justen Verrier of ESPN.com. "He's playing with better pace, he's not as frantic out there as he was earlier in the season. He's reading the defenses better, even though he still has a lot to learn."

It's been a dark season in Los Angeles. Clarkson has provided a little light."

I read the report and then read the people in front of him. Wiggins is the only one that has a legitimate (and it's not close, he definitely belongs at #1) case. I think Clarkson would be #2 if the guy or guys doing these rankings had actually watched his games and not just the box scores and quotes. He is improving, and he is improving in ways that aren't going to be taken away from him as teams scout him. Elfrid Payton and Smart have no business being in front of him.

Nurkic and Noel may also have a case beceause of their defense, bit i agree Smart and Peyton are behind.

Well to be fair, they probably rate rookies based on the entire season. The other rookies have gotten more playing time, therefore more production too.

Btw if Jordan keeps developing at this pace, would he be a starter next to Kobe next year?

The other thing to keep in mind with Clarkson and how he compares to others in his draft class is his age. If he was 19 like Exum, Gordon, etc then he likely does go much earlier in the draft. If Exum isn't producing at JC's current level in 3 years then he will be considered a massive bust. Not a knock on JC, as he still has lots of potential (I think he becomes something similar to a Monta Ellis 2.0) but him being older than most of the lottery picks is part of why he fell to the 2nd round.

As for starting next to Kobe, I think ideally Kobe slides to the 3 next year. The Lakers have a talent gap there anyway, and he's probably better off guarding threes than twos a this point. JC could end up as a 1 or a 2 with Kobe at the 3 and hopefully Randle at the 4. Who ends up at the 1 and the 5 spot will likely be determined by the draft and free agency.

Clarkson is #9 on NBA's rookie of the year leaderboard. His lack of minutes hurt him, but he's definitely been better than some of these other rookies ahead of him. Actually, the list sucks, but I like that Clarkson is getting some recognition.

    The List:
    1. Andrew Wiggins (13.4 PER, 51.0 TS%)
    2. Nerlens Noel (13.3 PER, 47.7 TS%)
    3. Elfrid Payton (12.4 PER, 44.2 TS%)
    4. Jusuf Nurkic (16.4 PER, 47.9 TS%)
    5. K.J. McDaniels (10.7 PER, 49.7 TS%)
    6. Nikola Mirotic (16.5 PER, 55.0 TS%)
    7. Marcus Smart (11.0 PER, 49.0 TS%)
    8. Zach LaVine (9.9 PER, 49.4 TS%)
    9. Jordan Clarkson (15.1 PER, 52.0 TS%)
    10. Jerami Grant (10.4 PER, 50.4 TS%)

I know PER isn't the greatest stat, but Clarkson's PER is higher than 7 of the other 9 candidates. The only two who have a higher PER are both bigs.

Clarkson also has a higher TS% than everyone on the list except for Mirotic, who has been playing great as well.

maybe I need to watch more, but I don't see the kj mcdaniels hype.

wiggins, nurkic, and mirotic have all impressed me. mayyybe payton, if I'm feeling generous. and I think smart's physicality will make him a staple in the league for a while. after those guys, I think Clarkson has been on par with the rest.

What happened to Vonleh? Wasnt he drafted pretty high and at one point was considered to be top 3?

Few people had him ranked that high, but Vonleh went 8 I believe to Charlotte. Hasn't had many minutes this season and seemed like he was a year or two off from being a real NBA player.

McDaniels can do some things really well, but I'd rather have Clarkson. I would put Clarkson probably 3-4 behind Wiggins, Noel, and maybe Mirotic. That's it though. I have him ahead of Payton, Nurkic, Smart, and LaVine for sure.

He's been buried on the Hornets. The most he has played all season was 16 minutes, and most games he gets DNP-CD.

What jumps out at me from that list is the absence of Aaron Gordon. Man I did not want that guy to fall to us, so glad the Magic took him and passed on Randle, as well as 2 teams after that.

Clarkson is a real keeper. He has truly impressed me. The blessing in disguise with this awful year has been seeing him get minutes and develop. He's fun to watch.
