My remembrance is that it was a domino effect. Shaq was the first domino. Once he was gone it changed other plans including Phil. I agree with you that they SHOULD have won 2-3 more together. I don’t claim that Kobe deserves no blame for what happened, but that others deserve more. Shaq blew that team up. He has even owned up to it in the recent interview.

You can’t mention bringing Phil back a year later. That’s reading history out of order. Dr. Buss brought Phil back only after the Rudy T disaster opened his eyes to Phil’s true value.

I just can't ignore the optics of that perfect time line in all of it. Like I said, if Shaq was the lone survivor in the blow up, the narrative would be different and then I'm thinking Shaq drove Kobe and Phil out. Either way, Phil, Kob and Shaq are all on good terms so no one will be completely candid about it till more books need to be sold.

If you blow something completely the f up, then why even revisit it inside of 1 year especially if the FO wanted to go away from the triangle. Months had passed before Kob requested the triangle be re-installed. Hamblen as the interim coach honors the request, Phil enters the scene and Kob and Phil reconcile. There are other coaches that were available, but Kob is a champion at that time so why not bring in the winningest coach again and start to be coachable...things might be different now that Shaq ain't around. I do give Kobe credit for wanting to do the right thing and swallowing his ego when it came to Phil. But its clear as day that he wanted to be "the man" on the team. Kob will tell you that.

    Agree to disagree :Beertoast2:

LeBron, 44 points, 14-24 shooting, game winner.

Oladipo, 12 points, 2-15 shooting, pathetic.

Game over, series might as well be over. The Pacers put ONE defender on LeBron to finish the game. :D

Between the block and game-winner, that was one hell of a sequence for the Future Laker.

If they win a title he's not coming here. No way he won't try for another one with a group of talented young guys while he still has the juice. Just wish things went in our favor sometimes.

barely beat the upstart Pacers on their home floor, and needed an otherworldly performance from LLLLL to pull it off.

I still call Pacers in 7.

but Bron's balls didn't shrivel like they were submerged in 10 degree water like usual though. Props.

Reminds me of Kobe's game winner vs PHX.

reminded me of that Kobe shot over Wade that was a game winner, but this one was not as tightly contested

LeBron would probably have 8 championships if he had halfway decent teams. What a grind! That has to be mentally exhausting. He needs to leave the land and let that team be below average like its roster. Thompson, Smith, Love, Clarkson = wasted money. Pssh.

44/10/8, hit a game-winning 3. Yeah, he's doing alright for an old man.

He actually doesn't have any help out there and he will probably injure himself trying to get to the finals.
