I agree that PG and Bron are a combo deal. But if one chooses to come, Deng doesn't really have to get dumped to make room. Jules's cap hold will have no effect on a 1max player signing. So I don't think he's a contigency...he's a certainty at that point.

However whether he sticks in LA is up to him and the type of contract he signs. Jules is an undersized big that can't stretch the floor. The max just ain't happening for a player like that. And if he agrees to a max offer sheet, LA will match it, but rapidly make it available on the trade block. If Jules wants to stay in LA, 12-15M is fair in this market...especially if this is what 20M looks like.

Rudy is making Jules max money (25M) in the final year of his contract (2020-21 season). Rudy is making a rookie and Ricky Rubio look like perimeter defensives aces and the stats back it up (since All-star, DMitch and Rubio are ranked 1st and 2nd in defensive rating for all players that avg 30+ mins per game. If you factor in players that avg 28+ min per game, DMitch, Crowder, Rudy/Ricky go 1,2 and tied for 3 in defensive rating). That s*** is unbelievable!

Legit rim protecting centers are closer to max deals than Jules cause it's a premium skillset that is rare in this NBA climate and helps push the needle.

I repeat, Whiteside and any other rim protecting big is worth bringing in as a plan A, let alone a contingent plan B.

Btw, that clip hit my D-spot!

with the recent news that the hornets plan to hire Mitch as GM, maybe he'd be interested in a wily vet like Luol:Brows::Magic Brows:

For sure. He’d be a great locker room presence and veteran mentor for Charlotte’s young guys.

Mitch HAS to deal for Deng, as penance. How can he deny the man's value? He DEFINED that value with the contract.

Trading Hart and CLE pick to move up this year's draft would be a really good idea as it has a great group of big men.

    Whiteside is a cancer.

He would be an amazing addition in theory but not in reality. He is also on an unfavorable max deal.

Naw. CLE pick is a tool to hopefully get rid of Deng. Hart is a great piece who pretty much brings everything you can ask for out of a back up SG.

I would not want to give up two assets of this caliber to gamble on an unknown rookie.

^I would consider than offer to get rid of Deng and keep Randle. Not to move in the draft, we have more than enough young players already.

Yeah. Kuzma, Ball, Ingram, Hart, Randle...how many player under the age of 25 can a competitive team have on it's roster? I move multiple firsts and seconds to unload Deng in order to keep those 5 guys. Or I move those firsts to OKC in order to get the PG13 opt in route since that allows us to keep Randle.

Yeah, but what about using draft picks for Kawhi? This story just won't go away...i really have my doubts but then someone else comes out saying he wants to go back home. Then there are the Tony/Gino comments... The whole stink with his Nike shoe deal. Can't believe that the Spurs would lose him, but the optics sure look like it.

But SA can offer him the most money (5yrs 219M on a super max designated deal). But then why would Nate say these things to begin with?

Dudes from Riverside, CA, so that checks off.

Pay attention to what Pierce says at the end.

I still say you get one or the other between George or Kawhi if you can. Getting both is overkill on the perimeter when there are far more pressing needs on the frontline.

I'm starting to think Kawhi is trying to leverage leaving (possibly to the Lakers) to get that 5 year 219M supermax from the Spurs.

This is probably the thought process from Kawhi:
    - I want the Supermax.... but I'm not 100% healed. If I come back, and I look like I'm not 100%, the Spurs may not offer me the supermax. (ala exactly what happened to Isaiah Thomas when he thought he was going to get a max contract, but came back and looked awful).
    - I'm going to sit this season out, and do whatever I can to get to 100% so that I can ball out next season so I can at least get a max contract somewhere. But to double down and try to get the supermax, I'm going to leak that I want to leave... potentially for a "big bag of money" elsewhere, to try to force the Spurs hand to offer the supermax to keep me.

This Kawhi situation is so weird. We haven't heard the first thing about the Lakers (Nate Robinson running his mouth not withstanding) so there's no reason to think he's forcing his way here. If he is forcing his way here, you can say goodbye to at least two picks and possibly Ingram. Unless of course the comment Pelinka made months ago about looking to 2019 was directly related to Kawhi. Obviously adding Kawhi to PG and this entact core with another year of seasoning (and presumably playoff experience) would make us instant contenders. And we wouldn't even have to sell our souls for Lebron.

    Just food for thought:

Trade Zo and Luol plus a draft pick for Kawhi.

    Move Ingram to pg position.

    Sign Paul George

    Resign Randle.

    Ingram (6'10)
    Kawhi (6'7)
    George (6'9)
    Kuzma 6'10)
    Randle (6'10)

Would that be the best defensive team ever?!
