I used to want him in the Laker at about draft time. I thought he would be a much better pro. But it seems he got his first check and then checked out after that. No real improvement over the years. The #2 pick curse.

i'm surprised williams didn't turn into a better pro. if wilson chandler can have a long career, williams should have been able to do it.

Interesting. He hasn’t played in the league since last season, and he didn’t score much, but it’s a 10 day contract, so no real risk.

Welcome home, Derrick Williams. Maybe the Lakers should acquire more guys that are from California and grew up Lakers and Kobe fans. Maybe the same will happen to D-Will. Lakers who grew up Lakers fans seem to thrive playing for this team. Just look at Zo, IT, BI, Kuz, Julius, Zu, and Travis Wear. Since 2nd half of the season, they're 6-1.

Wow! What a great sounding person. Just an extremely intelligent and impressive and exciting conversation with him. Loved his solid takes on all the questions asked. The FO may have gone yard again. If his strength is slashing and getting out on the break ... he's another big solid dude if he's still around 240. Just sounds like his head is in the exact right place and he was playing OK the last couple stops. Looking forward to seeing him on the floor. When do we have him available for play?

At least he's doing a little better then when he was with the Cavs. Better chemistry with the team too.

i'm cautiously optimistic. my concern is that he's just not a heady ballplayer (it's sort of like my randle concerns). no question he's talented, and i agree his heart/head's in the right place, but those two things don't help you make the read in the team defensive scheme.

still, i agree with him that he's 26, has had success, and shouldn't be dismissed as a useful nba player.
