Ummm .... we seem to be jelling at exactly the right time and now have more weapons actually.

Zubac steps in with legitimate Big backup to Lopez.

    Josh Barkley era has arrived.

BroLo like Julius is now being utilized properly.

    Lonzo back maybe soon.

If he comes back to let's say 90% .... Lightning in a Bottle may be possible with IT playing a HUGE role.

Everyone knows they're here for the rest of the season and can ball more comfortably for nothing other than shocking the world.

Necessary to be hitting the good stuff or nowhere near out of the realm of possibility?

My gut says we have a shot.

Honestly, it may not be impossible. I think it remains to be seen how much the Hood trade effects the Jazz and if Anthony Davis can hold them in the hunt without Boogie. We'd still have to pass either the Clippers or the Nuggets too. I think for us to make it, we will need an injury to either Lou Williams or Jokic. I'm not wishing that upon them. Just want to make that clear. But it seems like the only way we could sneak through.

I think we can pass Utah, end up 10th, maybe even 9th if Davis goes down with his typical injury, but no I don’t think we can make it to 8th. Under 30 games, too much ground to gain. We’d have to go on a tear, Thomas would have to return to partial Boston Thomas, and we’d have to make up for him on defense, and Zo would have to be right back where he was when he comes back from injury, non of which is likely. I really like this team right now, but I think blowing winnable games early because of bad lineups and missed free throws, and then our December schedule, buried us. I’m rooting for playoffs though, I’d love for Thomas to come in and boost us to being more legit, to be a true closer we’ve lacked to finish off some teams like he was last season. If we did make the playoffs with him it would be eye opening to LeBron and George, that’s for sure.

I don't know how many of you following NHL, but in 2007-2008 Washington Capitals after hiring a new coach made a ridiculous playoffs run .Even in the beginning of March they were outside of playoffs picture

This Lakers team and season looks somewhat similar
The Capitals became the first team in NHL history to make the playoffs after being ranked 14th or lower in the standings at the season's midpoint.

So it would not surprise me at all if they make a playoffs

I would say to temper expectations because the good teams will play better after the all star break. Lakers have a tough hill to climb.

We have a decent shot. In these playoff runs we are behind with no pressure. We can play loose and free. The teams in those spots are going to start to tighten up. Going to be fun watching them sweat as we catch up. Team of the next decade starting to hit stride..

I would like to think we can but there's just too big a hole.

Denver is going to get Milsap back. Clips still have talent and Doc still has them playing good basketball. Jazz are on a hot streak. Only Pelicans have a chance of dropping but I think they are still trying to stay in it.

I'd feel more confident if there were more games left but there's not. If we'd won 3 or 4 instead of that 9 game losing streak, we'd have a shot.

No I very much doubt we'll make the playoffs. Our best bet is to continue being a spoiler.

We want to be the 08-09 OKC Thunder: not a lot of wins per se, but we scare the hell out of good teams and force them to take us seriously.

The next season in 09-10 I remember them being veeeery intimidating in the playoffs even if we eventually made it past them. We all knew then that they'd be a problem in the future and they were. If that owner wasn't a cheap skate, it's possible they win a title in the last few years.

It was 5 - 5 before you posted. Still is.

:Kareemlook: For bleeps and giggles let's all go on record. You're probably right but this could be an exciting last 28 games if we continue clicking with the emergence of our own players, better rotations and bringing in a mercurial performing star were he to go on a healthy run again.

That 9 game losing streak along with numerous losses like losing to the Grizz on MLK or that recent Orlando loss will no doubt hurt what little chances we had.

Making the playoffs, would be like some kind of magic trick....oh wait.

    I'm a (ro)believer...lets go do this!

OTH, BK is getting blasted by the Pels. Hurts our chances of making it in with the Pels winning (w/o Boogie) meanwhile that BK pick for Gilbert....goddammit I dislike that man. And here I thought DLo would help destroy that pick in the lEast.

I voted yes on lightning in a bottle, but in reality, it’s not likely. Not enough time to make up the ground. I believe we can continue to play well, but other teams would all have to drop off significantly

Wonder how many games we got left with each team standing in the way of the 8th spot for us? Am lazy to look it up myself but I got a Home Depot guy showing up in about 3 minutes to put up a new shower door and I wanted this important question out there for anyone less lazy than me.

To even have a chance of making the playoffs, we'd have to finish with at least a .500 or 41-41 record which means we'd have to go 18-10 for the rest of the season.

Just to put things into perspective, we are currently on a 12-4 streak, so that would mean we would have to go on a 30-14 (.682) streak to end the season. If we played that well in the 2nd half this year, that would put our projected record at 55 wins next year, without PG or Lebron.
