Glad you're in a good mood, Zen. :). Best we looked in a long time, buddy. A lot of work still left to be done, but I'm optimistic.

Rob Pelinka is crushing it. He took over a team with a cap in disarray, an undisciplined locker room, and very little hope. He has almost completely cleaned up our cap (with that extra pick, shedding Deng isn't out of the question) and turned Lou Williams and DeAngelo Russell into Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma. I mean, everyone said he was a shark when he got the job, and he is eating people alive at this point.

Like this trade. Then again, I wasn't that much of a JC fan... Nance is bad, but that probably will keep JR here.

Have you ever listened to Magic Johnson talk basketball? I could do it for hours. He knows for gods sake what the talent and atmosphere is like that it takes to win multiple (5 in his case) championships. Competitive like no other except other all time winners. Tremendously successful business man. Give that part up. Be happy over that part.

I heard about this trade about an hour ago, and I wasn't sure if this was serious - this is probably the best possible scenario for our team, and Rob did an unbelievable job. Sure, we lose Nance, who we liked, but you can't have a contender with all young guys and no stars and veteran leadership. Clarkson... well, we knew that he'd end up traded sooner or later. Wasn't unexpected at all. By doing this trade we stay relevant this season while clearing so much space in the offseason, it's no wonder our management are doing victory laps right now. For a first year GM, this is downright unbelievable.

Now, think about making a pitch to Bron (I know some people are still not convinced about him, but still...). "You get max. You got to call PG, an all-star in his prime and a two-way player and ask him to join you in Los Angeles, of all places. Your support will be some of the most talented young guys in the league - Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, even Hart, again, most of which are two-way players. You get plenty of time to rest when necessary. You will be a mentor and provide that much needed leadership. We will probably be able to sign more guys to help.... etc." And you have Magic Johnson of all people pitching this to you. Come on man. This is an awesome day for us in terms of future flexibility. And our team does not get any worse this season either.

Oh wait - we got a pick too? Doesn't matter, we suck at drafting. :Laugh:Bron just needs to tank the season right now.

Absolutely. We've proven over and over we can identify talent late in the draft

Yes. Kobe is a great basketball mind as well. So was Jordan. I'd not let any of them anywhere near the basketball management. You don't understand how vastly different it is from playing? Or even coaching?

In addition, we have actual asinine claims Magic had made over the years on various players he deemed talented. Not impressive in the slightest.

Either way, unless you have actual proof he is more than a figure head and is actively involved in design and execution of these moves, aside from idiotic in its simplicity "We are going to free space up for 2 max FAs"... we are going to have to agree to disagree.

Sometimes, when I look at old games, I am not positive it knows how to talk even.

Lakers get Paul George this summer, and it is a massive success for the Lakers in year 1 of the PelMag Era. If they can tie the 1st rounder to Deng and ship his a** out, Pelinka should be Executive of the year. I know the Lakers have been great in the late rounds, but the Lakers hae enough young studs. They need more cap and more seasoned talent.

    No f***ing way!

Dumping Deng with that pick becomes so much more likely now. And guess who just became another dumping site...

Magic get Vlade on the line.

    Is this true???

I'm happily catching up on all of this. I love all our best young guys honestly as players. If I had to lose 2 of the important ones this hurts the least for me in terms of what I feel we lose in future talent.

It's protected. And it's this year, so it doesn't really matter.

Take back the figure head part then. Because you're out of your mind. Do not agree to disagree.

I give Vlade the Cavs pick, our 2020 first and 2 second rounders for taking on Deng right this second.

Probably a little early for the Kings to consider it, but ya never know.

Zen: 1-3 protected compared to 1-14 protected is a world of difference on pick protection.

Do I have to remind folks that the Cavs had a massive overhaul, still have TT and JR, who have largely been shells of themselves and still have Love on the bench and will need to be integrated with his new teammates when he returns.

IMO, its huge since 1st round picks are at a high premium as we've seen with all the deals this year.

Let me put it this way, my friend. For the last 5 years or so, after a bad game where our coach/players/management/owners did a bad job you turned off the TV and went on with your evening: watching Netflix, playing with your kids, having "good loving"...

I took a shower and drove an hour in a traffic jam to work.

So, excuse me for not having patience for b*******.
