I didn't realize IT was expiring so yeah, it all makes sense. Overall it was a good move for the Lakers. Clarkson was the necessary piece to move in order to realize the 2018 plan. Sad that we had to attach Nance who I liked a lot as a bench player, but we did get a pick and in the meantime hopefully Frye and IT help us win some games.

As they should. This is an incredible trade for us.

We might suffer for a couple of games here as we adjust, but all-in-all this is a masterful stroke from Maginka.

Gilbert chose the Nets pick over LaBron with this move. Now the Nets picks is off the table in any trades in these final hours till the deadline. They can still trade it this June during the draft, but it certainly looks like Gilbert chose the pick knowing LaBron is out...and how ironic that he helped LA, knowing that Bron can just walk onto our cap space.

Also consider that this trade still has us sitting at 14 roster spots, so we can visit the buyout/waive market after the deadline.

Also consider that IT is playing for a future Brinks truck visit...he has every incentive to ball out for us. Meaning that 8th spot is still somewhat of a reality.

Considering how 1st round picks are seen as premiums this year, we dumped salary and got a 1st rounder out of it. How crazy is that.

Rob doing work. I am a little more at ease. Magic didn’t say something stupid and Rob did his job.

    Now to unloading Deng.

We keep JR and get PG + some Spain parts and we are in business.

    No lebron.

It's always tough losing young players we've grown to love for being with us when times were tough. But this was a fabulous hall for us.

For those who want to see the math now, here's the Lakers guaranteed salaries next season*:

    Julius cap hold- 12.5
    Lonzo- 7.5
    Waived Deng- 7.4
    Ingram- 5.8
    Kuzma- 1.7
    Hart- 1.7
    Zubac- 1.5
    Bryant-1.4
    Cap Holds- 2.9
    Total: 58.6 million

If we waive our rights to Julius or sign him for a deal that is 6 million or so dollars per year, we can have two max slots. If you waive Julius outright, you have over 70 million dollars in available funds which is more than enough for two max deals.

God I hope Maginka can find a way to move Deng with that 1st round pick.

That'll be the cherry on top of a beautiful cake.

What's also funny: ESPN coverage of the Lakers has been quite positive, does that mean their darling LBJ might be headed here? That never happens lol.

PG + defensive C + backup PG. Then Kawhi in 2019.

    f*** LeBron.

I’m a little sad right now. Going to miss JC and Nance, and I worry about the defense and IT’s attitude...

That said, this is an overwhelming win for the Lakers and indication PG and Labron this summer is a done deal in the front office’s eyes.

I'm utterly shocked that the Cavs would make this bet.

I mean for them they get two young assets who will help them through their rebuild, but they literally opened the door for the Lakers. A shocking turn for Dan Gilbert who once wrote a letter to the NBA to sink our rising star.
