Don't know the "Hill details" but not trading him at the deadline, was a MAJOR FAIL. With the option of bringing back Ed, i would let Hill go for a 2nd rounder. Now, we'll get nothing... again :banghead:

I don't think Hill has much value around the league, honestly. I think we as fans overvalue our players. It's not like we didn't gauge Hill's interest among teams before the trade deadline; remember, Brooklyn was hesitant about throwing in a 2nd round last year for Hill all the while they could have lowered their luxury tax bill. That didn't happen. GM's, I believe trade for skillset. What does Hill do at an elite level anymore? Ask yourself? Not to say he's not a good player, he's just a player you're not going to offer a lot for because he doesn't move the needle for any team that considerably where their going to throw in assets, IMO.

At this point, I think Clarkson has more trade value than Hill.

Well I'm not sure how it works with Hill's option. He has a team option on the 2nd year or we can let him expire and free up his available cash.

A good question for Larry Coon would be: on draft day can we pick-up his option and then trade him to a team with cap space for a pick? Theoretically we'd be free of his cap hold and would get a young asset in return.

Just about time for the Lakers to chalk up our third win in a row.

This season means absolutely nothing if we don't get that pick. It is that clear cut. Brutal. All that tanking for nothing.

This team is so f****** stupid. If we weren't going to intentionally tank for the top 5 pick, WHY didn't we just give it back to Phoenix for Dragic? If we had NO intention to work to hold onto the pick, why did we care about keeping it? That is the definition of pointless. I'm starting to dislike players on this team, and it's not even their fault, I can't help getting pissed at wins. This pick is the is key in our road to recovery, how stupid is our franchise?

As I said in the gameday chat -- if we lose that pick, I don't know if I'll be able to watch next year. This was the only thing to look forward to this season. Winning now is absolutely pointless and it does nothing for our franchise.

This franchise is in some kind of denial. Getting the pick should be number one on our priorities list. And yes, i know. Dont root for your team to lose yadda yadda yadda. We need the pick. This group will never get us within ten games of the playoffs.

I think the philosophy is don't fall to number 5. They know that they won't catch up to Philly and the Knicks. Minny will eventually win over the Lakers, hopefully, but standing pat at number 4 while looking good doing it still retains a modicum of pride for the franchise. Well I think that's what they are doing.

I think thats part of the problem. Pride. Worrying about how we look instead of doing whats best for the team long term.

Beating Boston is good enough for me, and they have to know it's time to get back to tanking mode :banghead:

Exactly. Why stand pat at the deadline just to win games? And if they were attempting to tank why not actually tank and send Hill, Lin, etc away?

This is not the 1980's, the front office has to have a strategy beyond just play hard every game and keep your fingers crossed. Do they think free agents are going to want to sign with a team that not only has no plan for winning in the future but is also actively doing things to make sure that they stay in the cellar, hopeless?

Whoever is running this ship needs to haul Byron in and set him straight. If he still doesn't understand then there's the door.

I'll never embrace the tank and root for losses, but I can get behind player development at the expense of veterans.

Lin and Boozer should not be playing at this point. They aren't coming back next season, unless the FO plans on sucking another season, signing these guys back up and selling us on another crap season.

Get a young PG from the FA pool or D-League and see what he has to offer. We know what Lin can do, inconsistent and passive. Try and find someone to lock up on a cheap deal.

Black shouldn't be getting DNPs. Sit Boozer and let Kelly/Black see if they can develop their games.

If this was my team I'm playing young guys and developing them, not playing 1 year rentals that will sure to be leaving for money next year.

Like I said earlier, if the Lakers plan is to do this all again next year with 1 year veteran rentals they are doing a good job, but player development and trying to find a Hassan Whiteside player should be the ultimate goal right now.

I won't blame the players. They're playing hard to earn contracts/to earn their roster spot next season.

I blame Byron. If you're going to tank, keep tanking. Tank harder. Play Tarik Black more minutes. What is their plan here? I'm not saying the players should ever intentionally lose, but if we're going to do it then do it.

Whatever. I'm disgusted by losing on purpose. It literally enrages me from a player perspective. I appreciate the high integrity move of trying to please veterans and trying to rely on good karma, but at this point you need to just go over to the dark side and make sure you get that pick.

Unless Silver has already told them he's giving us one of those Top 5 picks, then I see no reason in continuing this charade.

I agree with this except I've embraced the tank and playing those young guys the losses will probably accumulate as they get more experience.
