i really like marc gasol and think he would fit nicely into what luke wants to do. i worry that he's let his body slip a bit of late, which isn't good at his age and size. i also think his history with the lakers (via his brother) probably hurts chances here. but again, the biggest hurdle is that memphis doesn't really need to dump salary for nothing--they should be asking for picks or young talent. the lakers aren't buyers in that market.

Marc is a great player and the way he plays really wouldn't affect his age. His style of play is perfect for what the Lakers need. I would offer Deng, unprotected pick and zubac for him.

Woj also said that the asking price will be high which makes little sense. Bradley is on a down year in a contract year dealing with injuries. No combination of those three facts should make Avery's market very hot.

That being said, we could trade Clarkson for Avery right now straight up. It would save us cash and get a more defensive minded player with an outside jumper.

That also being said, I think Jordan's offensive contributions have been vital to our recent success and Avery isn't a scorer. This would also push either Bradley or KCP to the bench which is slightly awkward.

That also also being said, Avery is a terrific fit next to Lonzo in that he can shoot the ball from outside at a terrific clip and he is a plus defender (although his defense has slipped this year).

they can have kcp back. bradley's not worth clarkson, imo.

i'm done with the two max stuff--there may not even be two max-worthy players on the market next summer, and sign and trades and last-minute dumps are possible if there are.

Avery Bradley would be a dream come true. I always liked his game even though I couldn’t admit it because he was a C bag and my hatred runs deep.

I wouldn’t give up Clarkson right now without a scorer coming back, but some scenario involving Nance going out would be ideal. Yes I’d do a pick too if it was the difference maker to the deal and Avery would be committed for multiple years.

That said, if we did pull the trigger on that trade I think it would be for a long term fit, and it would probably mean PG is no longer a possibility.

And there it is. Offer is made. It makes some sense for both teams honestly and might be a better situation for both players.

    What Pincus is talking about:

    Bradley Cap Hold: 13.2
    Randle Cap Hold: 12.5
    Deng Stretch: 7.4
    Ball: 7.5
    Ingram: 5.8
    Nance: 2.3
    Kuzma: 1.7
    Hart: 1.7
    Zubac: 1.5
    Bryant: 1.4
    Other Cap Holds: 1.7
    Total: 56.7**

**waiving rights to Ennis, Lopez, and Caldewell-Pope

That leaves 44.3 million to spend on a max deal AND a solid piece worth anywhere from 9 to 14 to 19 million dollars depending on the max level of the addition. You could trot out:

    Ball/___
    Bradley/Hart
    Ingram/___
    LeBron/Kuzma
    Randle/Nance/Bryant/Zubac

while filling in the backup PG and backup SF roles with that 9-14 million.

OR you can let go of both Bradley and Randle if you have to and end up with a little more than enough room to add two max deals. Let's say LeBron and George want to come here together, well now you have an avenue to make that happen. And you know if you end up with George/LeBron there'll be ring chasing vets to fill out the roster spots that you need.

Or let's say LeBron or George would rather come here to play with Bradley and Randle as young pieces to surround himself with talent, well now you can do that too. In fact, you could add that max deal with someone else, and once you hit the cap you pay Bradley and Randle their extensions. You'd still have the mini-Room exception of 3 million left over as well. You could really provide a deep, varied team for a max level player.

If we could keep Randle and Bradley and sign PG I would be a satisfied man. 3 man wing rotation of PG - Bradley - Ingram works for me. Wing defense instantly among the best in the league.

Bradley is overrated , no thanks . Plus he's 6'2 and not effective in a switching defense system

His defensive reputation , he's not the locked down defender some people think he is .

Worst thing would be to be the team which gives his next contract, we better keep JC if this is an option.

Well he’s a better offensive player than I think some people give him credit for, but like you, I don’t want to give up JC because we don’t have enough late shot clock scorrers or half court efficient scorrers, and even though Avery would be a great addition IMO, he wouldn’t help that aspect.

I think I heard his defensive rating was down this year, but that could be a team defense and acclimation issue, but I haven’t looked it up so I don’t know for sure.

You know who's defensive reputation was a little overrated, KCP. While KCP is smart in reading defenses and getting into passing lanes, his man on man defense is absolutely atrocious.

Bradley, while small, has a bulldog mentality about him that is effective on defense, similar to how everyone likes Josh Hart in a similar manner. Undersized, but strong and smart, especially ON the ball.

Ideally it'd be returning KCP to Detroit for Bradley but man I don't know how I feel about a JC/Bradley flip. Trigger to my head, I'd probably do it. But seems to me like Ron Jeremy is asking high for Bradley.

There's also a bit of redundancy with KCP, Hart and Bradley. And JC is one of our only guys that can go get his own basket. I don't think I'm ready for more 16-1 scoring runs for the opponents.

I remember wanting General Greivis for a back-up a few years ago. Don't remember his game much but can't be much worse than Ennis.
