I hear you guys, but I would be shocked if he doesn't receive a max offer from at least the Pelicans. Achilles are extraordinarily tough for basketball players but it's possible to come back and still be pretty good.

If I'm the Lakers I still might make that move... the bigger problem is he won't come back until at best half-way through next year. I suppose the big question is: does your other max player want to go that route? Maybe not...

For what it's worth the point I knew it was an Achilles tear is when he tried to step with his foot and collapsed. When you fully tear your Achilles you lose all dorsiflexion in your foot and when you step forward you simply fall because you've had resistance there your whole life and suddenly it's like your safety net is gone. It's strange and a tough sensation.

Damn. Thanks for the explanation. We've seen Kobe struggle to come back and never really was the same, but he was older; Matthews has looked decent. Gay has struggled with injuries this year.

Sucks for Boogie, too. He was having a tremendous season.

It's possible but he won't really be himself for much longer. He needs to trust his body again and that takes time let alone the actual physical recovery. Even someone as mentally strong as Kobe admitted he needed a lot of time to trust himself again.

I'd say he won't really feel or look like himself until at least the end of the season even if he's on the court before then.

Man that is horrible. And he was one of the guys I preferred the Lakers to try to sign. Not anymore. He's not gonna get a max contract thats for sure.

Surprised when that happened. But cousins was a guaranteed max. He might still get a good amount since he is still young and 1 and a half years till start of next season to see where he is at recovery wise. See what happens

No way I offer him a contract til he heals, so I’d have to move to a different plan. We’ve already had bad contracts here, so let’s not wash that down with another one. That’s insanity.

Awful injury. He just got his second triple double in 3 games too! I don't think he returns for this injury well. He's a big guy.

Free agency just got a whole lot more complicated.

Noel is such a good fit but he's a head case.

Sorry to sound like an a$$ but I didn't want Boogie before the injury so I definitely don't want him now.

Thx for the breakdown....or should I thank your wife, cause that's a perfect explanation. And it looks like its pretty much confirmed now.

Feel so bad for the dude....it looked like he was finally playoff bound and boom. NO was finally clicking and I thought they could have done some things in the postseason. I wouldn't mind Boogie in P&G at all, but its tough to offer a guy that's going to rehab for most of next season when you have possibly Bron coming on board with his limited window to win it all now.

The silver lining in all of this is that NO starts to fade and that possibly allows another spot in the playoffs to open up for us to aim for.

The bad news is that this provides less resistance to OKC and if they are allowed to go deeper into the playoffs as a result, that just further encourages George to stay put.

Sucks for Boogie and sucks for us cause now we're limited to LaBron-George or bust.

This coming days after the 2OT win vs the Bulls that led to Boogie's statistically historical night. Think back to Kobe and how MDA pushed crazy minutes on him, before he went down.

This is why LaBron has such longevity in this league cause the dude sits for a hang-nail...and after seeing injuries like Boogie's, I can't fault him for it.

Boogie now joins George as a guy that has gone down with a devastating injury...meanwhile, LaBron hasn't. Something to think about when we start offering max deals this summer.

Also, watch the NBA discuss extending the calendar even further to avoid injuries like this.

Still typical recovery is 8-10 months, so for an athlete with more sophisticated rehab equipment, it could be quicker. I believe Kob took 8 months.

If he does surgery by early Feb., we're looking at a potential return of Oct. which is right around training camp.

Very sad to hear this news. I know Boogie is a hot head and head case, but I feel very bad for him. Achilles tear is a killer. As in career killer. I don't think anyone ever comes back the same from it.

Preliminary talks to #DumpDeng imply that either BI, Kuz or Zo need to be attached for the other team to accept. I guess they can go kick rocks then.
