    Despite his injuries, he accomplished more in a short career than most NBA players ever do. 2 NBA championships, an all-star appearance, and 2nd team all-nba honors.

    Not bad for a player who was considered a high school "project".

    Folks marvel at Embiid, but a prime Andrew Bynum eats his lunch. Key cog in our title appearances from 2008-2010.

    I'm not sold on that. Embiid is a supreme talent. Bynum would have as hard a time guarding Joel as Joel would have guarding Bynum.

    As much of an idiot as Joel has turned out to be, I hope he stays healthier than Bynum did. The league is always more fun to me when there's talented 7 footers around.

    I liked his attitude. Especially when he elbowed that Puerto Rican elf in Dallas in 2011.

    Bynum couldn't do any of those three things prior to his injuries? No speedster granted but he didn't need to be.

    The point is he had weak base. It is the norm for people his size. If it wasn't Odom's foot, it would have been something else.

    Well you could have said it differently. At least to the point he got the first big injury he could get up in the air just fine. Point taken though and I remember realdeal talking about a funkiness to the way he ran that bothered him.

    i'm not saying we would have won, but having bynum in the '08 finals would have resulted in a much different series

    Ya, Porkins would have had to deal with Bynum and left Gasol to do his thing. Lakers win that series with Bynum and a healthy Ariza.

    A couple of my favorite Bynum moments actually came from a few friends who lived in Sacramento and were hard core Queens fans, and relatives who lived in San Antonio. They were finally rid of the dreaded, dominant Shaq and along comes AB who looks like the next great strong, skilled big man in the NBA who was going to continue to torture them for years to come. They just could not believe that the Lakers wound up with him (thanks, Jim Buss). Man, they were so depressed about it. Still makes me smile.

    ...and I recall a brief comment from Coach Wooden when asked about Bynum: It was to the effect of, "He plays much like I would have coached him." I thought that was a great compliment. Most likely referred to Andrew's footwork and his use of the glass.
