But Jameer is short and like 48. If Denver lets him go, shouldn't that be a sign? I can't even tell you any of their point guards.

I say we leave people's dog crap in their own back yard. We have plenty to clean up here.

yeah, denver's trying to win, and their other options are a disappointing third-year guy and a second-year guy who's really a sg. and they cut nelson. that's forced retirement, folks.

Hmmm.. You think we can make a trade with them while on subject?

Im picturing Brewer and Randle/Clark if not both could be useful for them?

I wouldnt mind stashing picks to use as ammo.

If we package up two firsts and two seconds you think that can move Deng?

Caruso runs the offense a little more like Lonzo than Ennis and is taller and can play a little better D?

Weez...it makes JC expendable...especially if you consider the 2018plan.

I think our best shot at a back up PG is probably through trade...which means that we'll need to trade one of our bigs to make this happen.

Bigs we can realistically trade that can bring back value:

    Julius Randle
    Ivica Zubac
    Larry Nance

Back-up PG's that we can realistically get that don't mess with 2018 cap space:

    Cory Joseph (Player Option)
    Lou Williams
Patrick Beverly (I know he's not a back-up but with Teodosic there, it makes him somewhat expendable)
Terry Rozier (C Bags badly need another big man)
    Devin Harris
    Seth Curry

Not a very extensive list here...but we could get creative here. The guy that I'd probably target right away is Cory Joseph. I didn't even know he was playing in Indiana now, and he's the back up to Darren Collison. He's been on championship rosters with the Spurs, and he's a decent defender with a decent pick and roll game. He can play both guard spots as well, so he has that versatility to play alongside Lonzo as well (he played alongside Lowry a lot in Toronto).

He's got a player option, but only for $7M. My guess is he'll probably opt out of that anyways so he shouldn't affect our cap space plan.

Indy would probably jump at the chance of getting a player like Randle for Joseph, so I think that this deal would work out for both teams.

The other player that I feel could be realistic is Terry Rozier. He has really come on this year and with GH going down, he's become pretty important for them. However, I'm not sure Boston wants to be playing Tatum the entire year at the 4, and Boston is really really short on bigs as they're forced to play Aron Baynes right now. Rozier would be perfect for us in the sense that he also has experience but is still young, and he can also play alongside Lonzo much like he does right now with Smart and Kyrie. He's also a very good defender, so that always helps.

Enter Randle, Nance OR Zubac. I think any of these 3 players would be of interest to the C Bags who badly need some size up front.

There's other guys on this list that I think are probably unrealistic (Lou, Beverly). However, Devin Harris is interesting to me for 2 reasons:

1, I think Dallas would love to get a player like Randle.
2, I think the Lakers can dump Deng with Randle to Dallas and gain a veteran PG in the process. Dallas really needs a 4 now that Dirk is clearly on the downside and probably going to retire this year. Dirk has said previously that he thinks Randle is going to be a star in this league, so I could see him pushing for something like this to happen. Dallas has struck out every year in free agency, so this could be an alternative way of getting talent and retaining it (they acquired Noel in similar fashion).

Now here is a bombshell Imma drop on y'all...but what if Phoenix considered doing this trade:

Eric Bledsoe for Julius Randle, Luol Deng and two future 2nd round picks

For us, we shed Julius and Deng...and yes, Bledsoe does have one more year past 2018, but it's at 15M versus 18M from Deng and Randle's almost 6M...so Lakers would save about 10M doing this deal since we don't have to send out equal salary as the Suns are under the cap. Lakers now have a dynamic guard that can play back-up to Lonzo but also play heavy minutes alongside Lonzo due to his ability to guard both guard spots and stretch the floor.

For the Suns, it's extracting the most value out of Bledsoe while you still can. With the way this season is already looking, they're better off parting ways with Bledsoe now and handing the keys to the young kids and developing them as much as possible. Yes, you're eating Luol Deng's deal, but that's the price you pay to get young talent like Julius Randle. Plus, Suns did originally draft Luol Deng, so maybe he will finally repay them by mentoring the young forwards, which they have plenty of (Josh Jackson, TJ Warren, Marquesse Chriss, and Dragan Bender).

Favorite long post of the year ;) With that being said, i doubt phoenix does the Bledsoe deal... If we can make somen work id go for it.

After that give me a Rozier trade, i like him and think hes still growing. Without Hayward do the CBags go for it? Maybe with Brewer involved, maybe add a 2nd and try to steal a late 11st with Rozier?

Please for the love of God no more "mentors". Lonzo needs to be playing 35-40 min. Not being mentored by washed up vets.
