Hey everyone, just wanted to get an early start on things this season. If memory serves, registration for Yahoo! leagues usually kicks off around late August. Unfortunately, my wife is due with our first at that time (this is me, fishing for cheap congrats...) so I want to get the setup as streamlined as possible so I can just quickly set everything up when it comes time. I'm looking for a head count right now and then we can discuss draft availability once the schedule is released in a few weeks. Rules will be the same as always: 12 teams, H2H, 9CAT (FG%, FT%, 3pm, pts, reb, ast, stl, blk, TO) Sign Up For League Here!!!
Not at all. It's a bit like fantasy football (and also a bit different). So each week you and one other member go head to head in 9 categories. You can "win" each category at the end of the week. The 7 counting stat categories are cumulative: i.e. add all the 3s or rebounds or assists your starting lineup amasses over the week, highest total "wins" that category. The only difference is the Turnover category, you want to be the low man in order to "win". Then you have FG and FT%, which is the totality of your starters averaged out. So if all your starters went 176/357 from the field, your FG% is 49%. At the end of each week, your record reflects the categories you won/lost. For example, if you and I play and you win 6 categories and I win 3, you will be 6-3-0 and I will be 3-6-0. Yes you can tie categories. The key difference from fantasy football is scheduling. Since teams play a staggered schedule (as opposed to every Sunday in NFL), there are weeks where you will inherintly be at a disadvantage due to less games played by your roster, but it averages out. It is near impossible to win 9-0/8-1 so when drafting, people employ various "punt" strategies. I.e. sacrificing categories in order to strengthen others. So you may draft Andre Drummond AND DeAndre Jordan which would strengthen your FG%, Blocks and Rebounds, but effectively tank or "punt" FT%, assists, 3s. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. There are no dumb questions. Welcome aboard!
Sounds pretty simple and concise. Thank you for the help! I already joined and we'll see how it all shakes up at the end. I'm going for the win just letting you know thank you YT
Hey @Barnstable do you mind if we link this up in Lakers Discussion while there isn't much new news going on?
Done. Will be moved back to the Fantasy sports forum after a few weeks, just remind me, and I left a redirect there for anyone that can't find this thread in Lakers Discussion.
