OKC going to revolutionize the game by being the first team to play with 3 balls! But man, the West just keeps getting tougher. How many years left on Melo's contract?

That’s a horrible trade, and I don’t even think Melo is great anymore. OKC gave up basically nothing but overrated and overpaid players to get Paul George and Carmelo Anthony.

    A few things to note:

Kanter and Russ were tight... Not sure how he feels about his guy getting traded, although it's reported that both Paul and Russ recruited Melo to open up his list to OKC.

The package is essentially 1 year deal players with Enes having an opt in option for a 2nd year and McDermott being an RFA. The Cavs could have offered Shump (player option for 2nd year), Frye & RJ (expiring deals) and Osman (rookie deal) for Melo that would have gotten the Knicks a bit more. The fact it didn't happen possibly means LaBron told Melo to look elsewhere cause he's out next summer. Also remember how LaBron was screaming for a true point guard last year...Maybe he knew Kyrie was on his way out and he was trying to get a guy in there that can play a better setup type role. We know already from style of play and the way his teammates are already talking about him that Zo is that type of setup point that LaBron wants. It's yet another corroborating point in the LaBron to LA narrative. That's only if Trump doesn't find a way to deport him. LaBron went in hard with his last tweet. I wonder if KD will use his dummy account to do the same. Btw, that weak shade he threw at OKC, Presti's like, "How you like me now?"

Which brings us to OKC with 3 guys that dominate the ball and not in the type of role to setup another guy. Last year, Russ proved he had it in him to be that type of guy, but he's really a true scorer that was forced into that role. Melo is a scorer and PG13 is naturally one as well. Historically, unless you're Kobe & Pau, you need more than one season together to develop proper roles and chemistry amongst star players. It's really a bold move by Presti and OKC that I sincerely applaud them for... But I'm really hoping this thing combusts in a horrific way. Still I would also liked to see Russ & PG13 play well with each other so that a possible team up in LA is something that both would like to still entertain next summer.

PS. @alam, Melo, PG13 and Russ all have early termination options for the 2018/19 season. If Russ doesn't sign that extension by Monday, things are going to be really interesting out in Ok-LAHome-a.

Yet further proof that dude is all about LA! Didn't know he was a Chargers fan. Dude knows those ain't thunder emojis.

Seriously, don't like how enthusiastic he is, but maybe just maybe, Presti knows that at the deadline, he now has tremendous trade fodder. 3 ball dominant players can't co-exist...can they? Would Presti be down for a Randle, Zu, Clarkson package for George if s*** hits the fan? Either way, seems like Ok-LAHome-a is holding stable for our stars while our young core can develop and get some shine this season.

All 3 of these guys are free agents at the end of the season. If they wanted to keep playing together they could do it here as well, and our roster outside these 3 guys is better than their now decimated roster. So I’m not seeing this as all that bad. I don’t think George is going to end up enjoying playing with the Melo, probably the league’s bigggest ball-stopper, or enjoy his inability to play defense. And if he was upset he didn’t get to take any last second shots in Indy, he’s now playing with 2 of the biggest clutch shot makers in the league as well.

I'm sorry, how on earth is their roster now decimated? They gave up oladipo and kanter for PG and Melo... and still retained Adams, Roberson, Patterson, Abrines, Ferguson and Felton.

Adams, Roberson, who, who, who, and ancient Felton? I have literally never heard of Abrines or Ferguson. They gave up 2 bigs in these deals and they have 2 stars that play the same position now. Also, Westbrook had to drag that garbage roster to the playoffs last season by having a historic season, adding George and Melo don’t make them a title contender.

Patrick Patterson, played for Toronto last season. A decent Swiss Army knife player, stretch 4, can get you can 10/5, and also defends multiple positions well.

Abrines, a young SG/SF, played well at the end of last season for OKC. Can shoot the ball.

Ferguson, nicely rated SG they picked up in the draft. Is a good athlete who they see defending PG-SF and a knock down shooter.

Plus there is a strong chance wade signs for OKC if he gets bought out. He has been working out with PG and they just signed Melo!

I want them to fail too Weezy but come on man. They will be fighting for the no.2 spot in the West (with SA and HOU). I sure as hell DO WANT PG to come here next summer but that damn fool Presti is doing a helluva job so far...

I feel like I've beaten this subject to death earlier this off-season. So I'll just rehash what I said, nothing has really changed.

    Kanter's trade value:

What I thought OKC's team could look like:

How I think they now match up to GSW:

I also think they have a great chance to get Wade now, which could really round out their roster. One more big for insurance sake and they're ready to roll against GSW.

Plus I forgot to say, this ain't no ordinary Melo year, this is Hoodie Melo season!

i'll repeat: no way can this be construed as good news for the lakers.

svtzr has it locked down, so i won't dig deeper. but when i saw that the trade went down, the pants got sad. it's not as bad as if melo went to houston, but it's the second-worst scenario. i fear it's lebron or bust now.

If PG and Westbrook stay in okc, who are our 2 superstar targets? Lebron and cousins?
