    The Magic play the Knicks tomorrow and I think it would be really smart to root for the Magic to win. Melo is eventually going to sit for the rest of the year and the Knicks was be atrocious when that happens.

    Meanwhile if the Magic win it puts even more distance between us and them which I feel is the only team that could catch us who is currently better right now record wise.

    I haven't been watching the games, so I don't know how this lineup actually works - but it seems weird to start Black at the PF and Kelly at SF. I thought Black is a C and Kelly a PF?

    In a perfect world, but we're tanking, so just get used to us throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing if anything sticks...

    ^ or maybe Byron is realy clueless? I don't know what the truth is... but i wouldn't be shocked if he's gone after the next season.

    I would be. They're in a full rebuild. Byron will be in effect the same thing Mark Jackson was to Golden State. Set a tone, instill discipline, and get guys working hard. Then when that culture is established, get a coach that actually knows more strategy and is more effective with the Xs and Os of the game.

    @RandleROFY laugh all you want about having a team that plays hard. This team does for the most part play to their best abilities. Their abilities are just incredibly limited; barely NBA level in some cases. Yet somehow they're usually close in games and play pretty well in stretches. The truth is we don't have enough talent to play good basketball for 4 quarters. Is that Byron's fault?

    I agree with this. Talent wise, we should be getting blown out most of these games, but the team always manages to stay in it. I think that's encouraging especially since Byron isn't going any where any time soon.

    Exactly. It takes the right guys to buy into a coach like that. Apparently Nick isn't one of them, but guys like Ellington and Tarik and Davis are all thriving under him actually. So is Boozer.

    @RandleROFY okay.

    Is there any doubt we could win some of these close ones with best lineups and smartest minutes with what even now is left of our roster. The only thing worse about this luck again gone south on us terrible won lost record season is to not get our pick back from Phoenix. Right up at the effing top (bottom) if that's what it takes. We are playing the game now the same way everyone else with not good teams HAS TO. It's what all these small market owners wanted. Careful what you wish for.

    I'm kind of enjoying this..... seeing competitive games, not getting blown out and embarrassed like with Dan. And all the while not liking too big of leads. It is what it is now. Gotta have a potentially impact player come out of this.

    Magic are just about to beat the Knicks! Great News for us because if and when we lose to Portland tonight we will have a 4 game cushion between them and us in the win column.

    Also Twolves are getting closer and closer to tieing it up with the Warriors.

    New York really sucks. I actually think they will out tank us, which they really have no excuse to be doing. We all knew it was going to be ugly with Phil and Derek trying to install the triangle with Melo, et al. But wow, what a freaking disaster. I am so happy that we aren't them right now. Our situation is looking a lot better than theirs at least.

    I watched the ending of the twolves-Warriors game and it was painful. Twolves should have won that game. Pekovic missed a wide open hook shot that would have put the wolves up 1 with 15 seconds left or so. Frustrating to witness. But at least the Magic won and we get a bigger cushion

    Sucks. Oh, well. 29 games left and a 4 game cushion. We're locked into that 4th spot. We still have some work to do after the All-Star break

    Pythagorean says 27 wins, but I have no doubt that that is skewed by the full roster numbers.
    My projections say 21. That's tank supreme.
