To be fair Barnes looked good in Dallas, and bogut got injured, while speights played decently while on the clippers

Well Clark isn't really a PG in his game. He's a SG in a PG body.

Maybe we wanted a true PG. Ennis is that

I think Clark found the market was tougher on him than he was expecting, way tougher. He settled on this deal. It's possible that he held out from LA wanting more money and LA moved on because of it. We showed interest. It may not be so simple as we passed at that price point although if it was, I'm not that beat up about it. I don't actually like Clark that much and we need a more pass savvy guy on the bench with Clarkson.

Barnes isn't nearly the player he was from GS, but they were all products of the system imo.

i'm confused: are you suggesting that harrison barnes has looked worse since leaving gs? because that would be insane. he looked much better in dallas than he ever did in gs.

if your point is that lower-tier role players look better in gs than other places, harrison barnes isn't a relevant example. and i agree with others that bogut and ezeli's issues are all injury-related. the leaves speights, who looked about the same to me.

in other words, i don't buy the argument that clark was enhanced via gs magic. maybe he's not a great player, but the question is was he worth 4 million for one year on a team that could use another shooter and ballhandler in the back court. i think that answer is yes.

But he wanted more and I think he (and his agent) were surprised by the lack of offers. There were a lot of players who were reportedly pissed about the FA market this season after last season's bonanza. I think Clark might have been that guy. We don't know what offer was made to Clark by the Lakers, but once we got KCP I think it spelled the end of our interest in him.

I'm saying I don't think he ever was willing to settle for that in LA. I think he and his agent were still holding out hope someone would offer much more and it never materialized so they finally settled.

This seems the most plausible scenario to me. If Clark was willing to accept a 1 year 1.6 deal from LA, I'm sure we would have made that deal. He (or more likely his agent) was holding out for more. We decided to cut bait and move on to the sure thing in TEnnis. Nothing materialized for Clark after us, and he ended up settling for this. His huge mistake, not ours.

I also can see how Clark may feel like there is more opportunity on the Pelicans and that is what he is looking for more than anything because he and his agent knew at this time there wasn't going to be a team to offer the kind of money they are looking for so lets go to a play that gives us the best opportunity to play and earn a better deal next year.

Makes perfect sense why he chose the Pelicans IMO

It's certainly debatable. Lopez and KCP can be argued as better pickups than Hill, Randolph and Carter. The overall draft Sacto had was pretty great though. Fox, Jackson, Giles, and Mason. We have only seen anything really from Lonzo and Kuzma, we didn't get to see much of Hart, and Bryant was just ok. I agree on Philly though, they're being a bit overrated. IF Embiid and Simmons can stay healthy they will be good, but that is a big if.

Sixers are too high on that list. Yes, they moved up to number one to get Fultz and sure they got JJ but compared to Minny? No way. Minny pulled Butler - that alone puts them higher than the Sixers in terms of offseason moves. I'd put us higher than the Kings and Sixers for sure. Every move we made was a good one and we are set up for next season's free agency with space for two max slots.
