    Best Available

    PG/COMBO
    Dion Waiters -3
    Derrick Rose -4
    Deron Williams -4

    WING
    Manu Ginobili +2 (?)
    CJ Miles +2
    Matt Barnes -1
    Thabo -2

    FORWARD
    Otto Porter +8 (offered)
    Danilo Gallinaro +7
    James Johnson +4
    Michael Beasley +3

    CENTER
    Pau Gasol +15
    Kelly Olynyk +8 RFA
    Zaza Pachulia +7
    Nerlens Noel +6 RFA

There are some excellent bigs available, but the Guard market is about dried up. Still some solid players, but no game changers available.

At this point I hope Magic and Rob seriously consider taking a salary dump with an attached asset such as a draft pick. That asset would be useful when it's time to unload Deng and open up cap space for two max contracts.

Rondo or Waiters won't do much to help the Lakers win more games this season, so I value the asset more than a few more wins especially when there's still Deng to unload.

I disagree that we're gonna struggle to win 20 games. I anticipate the Lakers being around the 30 win mark.

Again just about every report, every indication has been that Paul George wants to be an L.A. Laker.

Clearly it's about more than just basketball. Los Angeles is home. He idolizes Kobe Bryant. Same with Magic Johnson.

The idea of being able recruit at least one other max free agent is likely part of the appealment for George.

The Lakers will be a better team this season just by the fact that guys like Ingram, Randle, and Zubac are more experienced.

Lonzo Ball will make an immediate impact. The kid is a special playmaker and leader at the point guard position.

He led a mediocre UCLA team back to relevancy. Yes I realize college and the NBA are different games, but it just shows every level the kid has been at he's elevated his play and those around him.

Brook Lopez also gives this team a legit low post and #1 scoring threat. Haven't had that in about five years since Kobe Bryant tore his Achilles.

    30 wins?

barring any big roster changes, i just don't see how this current squad could win 30 games. unless ingram takes a huge step forward and ball starts draining 3s right away

and i haven't even gotten to the part about defense

You make it seem like that's not a likely scenario. Based off how Ingram played at the end of the season I'd say it is.

As for Ball go watch the kid's shooting highlights. Despite the unorthodox release he was a very efficient shooter and more importantly has NBA range.

This is the FA thread, man :)

Brook Lopez posted 4.9 Win Shares and a 2.0 Value Over Replacement Player.
Lou Williams posted 4.9 Win Shares and a 1.5 Value Over Replacement Player.

thought hill was too good to be true. it's ok, nothing lost in the attempt.

feel bad for hill that his last couple years of productivity are in that cesspool.

also, they're probably going to finish ahead of us...*sigh*

You realize how many leads they blew cough for tanking right ???

Look at the makeup of this team

    Out - Russell, Moz, Young

In - Ball, Lopez, a group of youngsters and one more FA TBD

Yeah I like our chances of 35 wins

I also happen to get banned for good after being a long time poster. It just so happens it was a few days after the election and they removed my Trump avatar which I had for over a month saying it was against rules lol

Of course the ban wasn't personal.

Part of the reason I like the mods here. You guys post and apply rules without making it personal.

Sadly I'm not shocked about Hill. With only being willing to offer a one year deal to him it was a loooooong shot. Still I'm glad we at least took the meeting and tried. If we could have gotten him that would been big, IMO. Would have bolstered our clout for pulling in FA's and I think it would have meant a handful more wins or more for this upcoming season.

Can't blame him for taking the longer deal, especially given his health situations in the past and the fact that he turned down the longer offer from Utah and wasn't seeming to get something equivalent in this market. Went with the sure thing and that was probably wise. Wish he would have taken a chance and played for us though.

I don't want Rondo. I'm ok with Waiters. I don't see CJ Miles taking a one year deal but who knows? Maybe.

Yup don't blame Hill at all. $60m or $20m. Pretty easy decision

I hear you. Solid job for them for a change. Good for them for coming around. I just am not going to lose my mind yet. There's plenty of time here and we all know the plan. I hope we end up a 1st somehow out of this instead of a Rondo. If we end up with a Rondo I'm going to be a little disappointed. I don't like Rondo. :D
