Not really looking forward to this season at the moment, the west is going to be a bloodbath. I know FA isn't over, but this is how the teams are shaping up at the moment with their top end players:

    - Warriors: curry, durant, green, klay & iguodala
    - Spurs: leonard, green, aldridge, simmons & george hill or rudy gay possibly?
    - Rockets: harden, cp3, ariza, gordon & capela/nene
    - Thunder: westbrook, pg13, kanter, adams & rudy gay possibly?
    - Wolves: kat, wiggins, butler, teague & gibson
    - Pelicans: ad, cousins, jrue, hill & a bag of chips
    - Jazz: hayward, gobert, favours, rubio & ingles
    - Clippers: griffin, jordan, beverly, lou will & crawford
    - Nuggets: jokic, murray, chandler, gary harris & gallinari?
    - Grizzlies: gasol, conley, tony allen, green & randolph/vince carter?
    - Blazers: lillard, cj mccolum, nurkic, turner & crabbe

I feel like all those teams above are currently better than us as constructed. Even then the bottom of the west still has:

    - Mavericks: dirk, nerlens, barnes, wesley matthews & seth curry
    - Suns: booker, bledsoe, chandler, josh jackson & bender
    - Kings: de'aaron fox, hield, tyreke evans, cauley-stein & skal

Just going to be a tough, tough year to get a wins with our current team:

    - Lakers: ingram, ball, lopez, randle & zubac/clarkson

I think we could see 10 or 11 teams play .500 ball or close to it in the west this coming year. Based on that, we are probably looking at the 12-14th seed if we finish with about 30-35 wins.

Who knows maybe Rondo wants to go to the Lakers and shine to get back at the C Bags. I'd be okay with that...

I think everyone knows barring a trade for George at the deadline this team isn't making the playoffs.

This year is about making ourselves look attractive to the latter and Ball and Ingram's development. That's enough to get me excited.

Just wait until Rondo goes after Luke, which is his MO.

Apparently Shabazz Muhammad is now a UFA. We should definitely consider throwing him a 1 year deal.

I still hate the Rondo signing if it happens...I'll need to just watch highlights of the 2017 1st round NBA playoffs when the Bulls went up 2-0 against the C Bags to feel better about the signing. That's literally the only thing I can come up with right now...

Well at least it was Rondo that reached out to us and not vice versa, that much is at least cleared up.

We don't need Rondo to mentor Ball that is what Magic is there for and the coaching staff.

on a big 1 year deal. I'd be just fine with that. Not a Waiters fan by any means but we could do a lot worse and what we are after, he may be the best option left on the table

Rondo..So he's a douchebag....so what? Pretty Ricky was too and I'm sure we all got a soft spot for that guy....must be the smile...has to be the smile. Then there is the Diesel who instead had a stint with the lepercons, but I'm still all about that Shaq-fu. Maybe some of you ain't. But if the hate is still deep in alot of you, then one guy is surely the exception. He went from Laker to C-bag to Laker again and theres no way yall are hating on my man Travis Knight...right?

Well, if you hate Rondo cause he used to wear green, then that's just not a good enough reason IMHO. He was part of "the rivalry"-lite edition. If it was a player from the 80s, then I get the hate. But this is Bird, McHale, Ainge...so Rondo on a 1-year deal makes absolute sense to me.

The FO had to have run this by Luke and if Luke wasn't down, no offer. So the coach-killing nonsense is moot. Last I checked we's a young group and that's exactly who Rondo stood up for last year with the Bulls...this against Butler and Wade. So he's about that life and I'm with it.

Dude will give Zo an edge in an NBA that is reddi-whip soft and I dig that as well. Plus the kid needs to earn the keys to the kingdom...there shouldn't be handouts.

Getting this guy on a 1 year deal doesn't hurt us long term and is a small risk high reward type of deal especially if he works out for us and we choose to retain him.

The priority should be dumping Deng tho. We know the Suns don't mind salary dumps and it looks like the Kings will take any type of salary. Strap some assets to Deng and lets get something going. If Randle isn't truly part of the core moving forward, we can't afford to just offer him an extension. Still I would try to move Clarkson first. Deng plus Jordan = 30M in cap space.

    Zo/Rondo
    PG/
    Ingram/Kuz
    Bron/Nance
    Lopez/Zu

Definitely some wishful thinking and of course we would need some hometown discounts, but in 2018, if we can get a starting lineup that can nearly all play from the elbow and with their backs to the hoop...can all dime up...can literally interchange on defense and give us positionless flexibility, then we're on the fast track to title town.

All you need is the possibility...so don't limit your options and do whatever it takes to give yourself such a possibility that you can make a reality.

ok so he had 12-8-6-2 in game 1 and 11-14-9-5 in game 2..both W's on the road in Boston.

If Rondo helps us make the playoffs (doubtful), that would also make our pick to the C Bags worthless.

I'll be OK with this if this is the Rondo we get...but if he goes Luol Deng on us....AND he destroys our locker room? Oh boy....

Oh and I just learned that Pelinka was Waiters agent once before, which definitely helps.

Nice try by Trevor there, but he attempted 170 and 133 in the last 2 seasons to Russell's 370 and 384. I imagine it's easier to keep those percentages up when you attempt that many fewer threes. Also, Rondo has burned the bridge in EVERY place he's been. Wore out his welcome in Boston, burned the entire Mavs team, left Sacto after one season and talked crap about them after he was gone, and was waived by the Bulls after one season. Why do we want that here? If the Lakers see him as a mentor for Ball they're delusional, this isn't the 80's anymore.

Waiters is interesting...seems like a long shot though. Think he could get a longer than 1 year deal.

We dumped Russell to go after Rondo and Waiters? We thought Russ was too immature and beyond saving at 21, but we're willing to go after guys with major attitudes at 25 and 31...

Although Waiters game is not totally ideal for Luke's system as he's more of a nick young (off the dribble scorer) we need someone who can put the ball in the basket on the perimeter.
