Well... that top 5 pick seems safe at least. At this age and on this crap team there's really no reason for Kobe to play through something like this.

I don't think it was. If it's a tear that doesn't require surgery I'm sure we will see him play again this season.

Sit down, Old Man Mamba! Time to head for that pick.

I think next season you see a more revitalized Kobe as our team takes better shape. Maybe he plays enough to get us into the Playoffs and then calls it a career when we get bounced. That'd be enough for me at this point.

Bummer that we might not see him play again this season. Rest up as much as you need and get ready to go out guns blazing.

The way Windhorst is talking he says if it requires surgery he's done for the season (then he throws in "it actually casts some doubt on what he can bring next season). Then of course the LEBRONSPN anchor points out people saying we should have never given Kobe this contract in the first place.

Then Windhorst says we need to trade away all talent we have left and tank, lure free agents with the pitch of rebuilding the team with them, and sit down and have a frank discussion with Kobe about retiring early. ESPN so quick to push him out the door.

I actually agree with him on trading any "talent" we have though, somebody out there must want Hill and even Lin as an expiring.

I wish I could say that my heart skipped a beat when I read that headline on NBA.com, but it just seemed business as usual. Kobe can't escape the drama.

Shut him down for the rest of the season even if he gets healthy. No use wasting whatever he has left playing for a crappy team with no purpose.

Embrace the tank and retool next year to give kobe at least an exit he deserves.

There's a particular scene that sums up why I loved DBZ so much, not just because it was fun, but because it was absolutely uplifting and devastating at the same time. It's posted below. A very brief bit of background: Tien is a human being, and he knows he's far too strong to defeat his opponent (Cell), but he fights anyway - until he has nothing left. His sacrifice is awesome in itself, and its motivation is to help his buddies to win the battle in the long run.

There's something epic and awesome about what Kobe's doing - even as his body breaks down. He's not out there walking through things, unable to play the game. He was averaging 22-6-6 going into last night's game. Only 62 times has a player average 22.3, 5.7, and 5.6 in a season. And no one who did it was older than 33. In fact, 53 of those 62 were 30 or younger. 59 were 31 or younger. Keep this in mind. If it's the end for Kobe, think about how he did it even at the end of his career.

On Kobe Bryant, there's "concern" within Lakers this could be season-ending, source says. But nothing definitive until docs examine him. Per Ken Berger's twitter

Berger doesn't know crap about this situation.

Any time there's an injury to an older player there's a "concern". He's just twisting facts to get attention. Most people have, as a worst case scenario, surgery and a few months off.

Pretty much sums up this season. He was run to the ground in the beginning. This team actually started playing well, but it was too late by then. Just let the young guys run and play, teach em good habits, and be ready for next season.

Well lets me honest with ourselves. Kobe was driven way too hard early in the season, but this shoulder got hurt on that dunk last night. Kobe didnt even dunk the ball hard. Freak upper body injury.
