^ at this point, i would rather see Kobe operate on the block, inside rather than him bringing the ball up or getting it at the 3 point line (at best).

which was exactly what the triangle did for kobe. the triangle is a post operated offense that provides the necessary spacing for that player to get to wear he needs to. that's the harper/shaw/fish were there for. bring the ball up, space the floor. a true PG is unnecessary to pair alongside kobe because it would be redundant, it's never worked. would it be nice to have a CP3 or Curry, hell yeah, but that's besides the point. from the bench, sure, it'd be nice to have a legit PG to distribute the ball, but as we know with Kobe, he's option number 1, he's the distributor drawing double teams, he's the finisher.

Triangle is a thing of the past. No one cuts to the basket or makes an open 3 on our team. Kobe bringing the ball up the court is r*******.

This worries me. Unless he's injured I wouldn't think that shutting him down would improve his chances of a good season next year. He needs to stay active against real competition. Otherwise it'll take him too long to get back into game shape and he'll have to experiment with however he needs to play all over again. You can see from his turnovers that he's still got some rust, or if not rust, that he's trying to get used to playing differently. I think he should continue to play but with limits on his minutes.

Has anyone noticed that this year they only show Kobe's career averages against opponents and not his current stats? I haven't noticed if that's the norm for other players who aren't among the league leaders.

Kobe vs Lebron, any previous season I would be amped for this. I still hope for Kobe to pull an amazing game out of his basketball hat, but where once those games were as prolific as rabbits on ecstasy now the exception is most definitely the rule. Kobe is the ultimate winner, and if you reply the reverse he must be the worst loser imaginable, unable to stop blaming his teammates or himself.

It makes no sense for him to stop playing after the Lakers are eliminated from playoff contention. Limit those minutes but keep experimenting, work the post, stop those turnovers, build some chemistry, learn how to work with a flawed team, have a chance to say I worked it out but I needed the first half of the season to know what to do. I think Kobe shutting it down would be more about him not wanting to face trying his best every night and knowing he was going to lose 2 out of every 3 games, knowing the 8th seed is unattainable.

I am not sad anymore. For I know if Kobe never plays another game or plays like garbage he can never tarnish his accomplishments. He has done too much, been brilliant for almost two whole decades of basketball attrition, of fans blind adoration and derision. Those entering the league have grown up watching you. You mean more to them than Jordan because they watched your games live, saw you perhaps on their first live game.

I am not amped for this game, but I know this, Lebron isn't either. Because he has more to lose. The Laker season is already lost. Lebron has lost 6 games including one game against the Suns where he returned. If we start strong we have a chance. If we give up points in the paint, let Kevin Love sink triples and get hot, then we give them confidence back and they will stomp us. I hope Kobe has a few tricks left up his sleeve and brings a smile to this fans dial.

I have no expectations at all about tonight's game. I think it would be tough for Kobe to suddenly turn it on and get a triple double but you never know. I doubt either Kobe or Lebron think too much about competing against each other though right now.

Meh ..... I don't know about that. I still recall Kobe, wasn't it his last All Star game two years ago, blocking and contesting LBJ's shots and getting up into him with the "shoot it" demands to "shake" him up? Or at least try. Kobe has himself to blame for the Colorado situation and dropping out of next Jordan, loved status with the media. But I bet he surely resents the way he's been kicked to the side and James elevated higher than he has actually earned in his career to date. Can't forget that if San Antonio didn't absolutely chump away a sure win 2 years ago in Game 6, it would have been "Not one.... not..... not......OK one and that's it. And that was a game he had pulled his non Jordan, non Kobe, unique LBJ disappearing, passive act in.

Yeah I miss it too. Magic Bird, Magic Isaiah, Magic Jordon, Charles Jordon, Reggie Jordon, Kobe Jordan, Kobe Jordan, Kobe TMac, Kobe AI, Kobe Allen, Kobe Wade, Kobe Bron used to be exciting.

I f LeBron's on Kobe tonight and being competitive, Kobe won't get a decent shot off. It's not even close.

I wasn't meaning I "expected" Kobe to have a "good" chance of outplaying him, only was wondering if I agreed with "I doubt either Kobe or Lebron think too much about competing against each other though right now."

Well Lebron 's in LA so if Kyrie let's him have the ball he' ll probably do a little showboating. Just like when Kobe would play in NY.

just came here to post this haha

As for tonight.... Kobe never disappoints with another career high.

Kobe is also around 30+ minutes away from passing Wilt for 3rd or 4th most minutes played in their career
