Not only is Fultz a better fit but I'm fairly sure Ball won't work out for them. Cheap attempt by the C Bags to garner trade interest. It probably won't work.
No matter which way you dissect it, we're in a win win position. We either get Jason Kidd reincarnated in Lonzo, or Dwayne Wade with a jumper in Markelle!!! We can't lose
with the butt kicking they're getting from Clev, Ball is the last thing they need. Ball could be a duplicate of Magic as a rookie and Bos still can't touch Clev, they need wings and bigs that can protect the paint and make shots.
This might only slightly fit this discussion but I think its interesting: My brother is a Cbags-fan (i know, clearly family-reactionary) and he considers them to be to far away to fully commit to win-now mode. He argues that even adding Hayward + whoever they could get for the pick will not get them past Cavs and Warriors. So he thinks they should keep the pick and think long-term. I disagree but get the point and wonder if Ainge feels similarly. Then, he could pick Ball and decide not to give IT the max. I hope LaVar and the impression that Ball wants to be a Laker will scare him off.
Own brother, a C Bags fan... worst nightmare. Good thing i have 2 sisters, both know not to wear anything green LOL.
Haha yeah i know... but it's cool. He still very much liked Kobe and like i said, i get it. He's the younger one so he has to rebel a bit. I actually prefer this to him being a bandwagon lbj Fan or sth. The Cbags i can at least respect.
No your brother is absolutely right. Why would they go "all-in" on this group? Horford hasn't expanded in his role. Thomas is being exposed. The rest of the roster is uninspiring or young. If they're smart, they go hard after Hayward so they can compete now and make money while keeping the pick and picking through 2-3 of their young guys they want to build around (Brown, Fultz, and their top pick next year). Meanwhile trade guys like Bradley who are due to get paid. They're not going to trade a bunch of pieces to go get George when that won't get them far enough past Cleveland. There's no point.
I would trade IT, sell high. He won't play any better and tying up so much money on a midget is just... I don't know man...
Nah...I think they should keep Thomas as their franchise player, max deal. Sell tickets, stuff like that. No rhyme or reason why, just saying.
When LeBron gets waxed in the Finals this year, the East will be back to its JV league of nothingness.
I actually agree with him on this. Hayward and Fultz isn't enough to put them over the top. They have ZERO interior defense. I think they need to do something like trade for Andre Drummond (who is apparently available) to help a little. That Horford contract is going to come back to bite them. This is proving that being a team that is good with players in their late 20'S might be the worse place a team could be. No prayer of overtaking the Cavs or Warriors, and no hop of setting yourself up for after their reigns are done. The C Bags should think long term. Fultz will be their first blue chipper. Next season will be their second (most likely). Add that to Brown and Smart and start with that as your nucleus. Keep IT around (since Horford is eating up so much of the cap anyway) and get your kids some playoff experience.
Theres report they tried in 2016 for a lotto pick n failed. Its only gona more difficult now with it making all nba. Im sure they dont want to give him a super max but everyone knows now IT wants a max contract now
