The best I can describe the difference between Fultz and Ball is that Fultz is like Kyrie Irving. Barring injuries, he will be a 20 point a game guy who can ball and be an all-star. However, like Irving, if he isn't in the right place, he will win 20 games a year like Irving was before Lebron got back there. He is lucky that he won't have to worry about that because he is going to Boston and that team will be stacked when he gets there.

Ball has franchise leader talent. He is the type that can come in and help a team win 20 games more then the previous year because he is a team player who feeds into the team, spacing and overall coaching dream of an offense.

Lakers win either way. Without sounding bias, I believe the Lakers actually have the best position in the draft. If for some reason the C Bags decide to pick Ball first, the Lakers get Kyrie Irving 2.0, which would mean the Lakers would more than likely be trading DLO and PG would be a Laker this summer. Lakers win. If Boston picks Fultz, Lakers get the best pure PG that's come into the draft since Chris Paul 12 years ago. You can keep D-Lo and see how that works out for a year and if D-lo is still an issue, PG-13 is there for you next summer.

Lakers are in a great position and I am very happy with the timing of bringing in Rob and Magic because I feel that they won't screw s*** up the way Mitch and Chaz's boss did by slightly handicapping the Lakers with that monstrosity of a disaster Mosgov and dead man walking Deng.

Hell, Boston could take Fox at #1.

They do like their two way guards, much ado to Smart and Bradley, Fox would actually fit in to their system.

I think if Boston keeps the pick, they go Fultz. Fultz becomes the heir apparent to IT as their primary scoring guard. Marcus Smart is his Avery Bradley. Jaylen Brown is his Jae Crowder. They still have the Nets pick next year too...which will be a good pick to say the least.

Trading Russell? When has Fultz surpassed Russell? Let's not get carried away. As much as I like Fultz and Ball, I still think Russell and Ingram are better prospects.

I'm not sure Russell is better, but I'd put him on the same level as the other guards. I like Ingram a lot more than the other kids though.

Boston will almost assuredly not take Ball, but if they did I'd go with Fox over Fultz. I like Fultz, but I'm concerned he's not a winning player. Fox has short comings, but he's got a ton of heart and he's very talented. Individual workouts could change that around given Fultz's crazy talent, but how does he win only 9 games in college?

Yes. That's exactly what I said in the post. That Fultz has passed Dlo. Excellent.

    RE: Russell vs other guards

Out of college, you're probably right. They're on the same level. But Russell is better by 2 years. Trading Russell would mean rewinding the clock by 2 years.

And that's my question with Fultz. Sure he's talented offensively, so was Okafor, and Okafor went alll the way to the NCAA Finals. But obviously, people saw something from the workouts that wasn't clicking.

Which is why I think Fox's competitiveness might jump in a steal the show in Boston. And why I think Ball will still kill his workout with us.

I don't think Boston wants to deal with Lavar, as much as he said he would stay out of it, it's not a situation Boston wants to be put in with their current success.

    Care to elaborate on this?

It sounds to me you are implying keeping Fultz over Russell here.

Just think back to Okafor. He was supposedto be the heir to the big men in LA, but his workouts were poor because of what might have been his entitled mindset going in. As talented as Fultz is, it's been pointed out that he didn't lay it all out when he played. Could it be the same red flag people saw with the talented Okafor? The workouts will determine that.

As many of you are saying, Fox is not slouch offensively either, dude is quick with some game, and I would be okay with taking him too. He plays with a high motor and has sneaky athleticism for his size.

Ball is going to be selected number 2. That is probably ONE of the reasons they had Russell slide to SG.

Not enamored with his olay personally, but I believe the Lakers are; Ball and Russell will make for a unique backcourt.

Give them the season and let's see what we have...

I'd give Russell a shot as the primary SG. It was no accident the team was experimenting with DLo in that spot in the final 10-20 games. Don't kid yourself to think the Lakers won't be picking Ball at #2 unless a team is crazy enough to trade to #1 to pick him

As much as I think Russell is overrated. I would only trade him right now in a deal with Deng + whatever for PG13 (or Jimmy Butler)

I agree with that. I'm not eager to trade any of our high draft picks from recent years.

Great read. Sold me even more than I was already sold.

    This part was good info:

"Another, more specific way of quantifying the Lonzo Effect is to look at how his teammates performed versus SI's preseason projections, and compare that with how Fultz's, Smith's and Fox's teammates performed versus projections. Part of the forecasting that Dan Hanner and myself have collaborated on for the past two preseasons at SI involves projecting efficiency on player-by-player level, based on past performance, recruiting rankings, and coaching factors. Ball's five teammates with the most playing time had usage-adjusted* offensive efficiency ratings of, on average, 6.8 points per 100 possessions better than projected. That alone is impressive, but it's especially impressive when compared with the teammates of Fultz, Smith and Fox, who, on average, performed below their offensive projections."

I already commented on this article in the last page. But wanted to bring something else up about this chart which is talked about in the article:

    upload_2017-5-18_10-47-53.png

Great numbers but I wish we had more 'Off-Dribble HC Jumpers' to look at because it's well known that Lonzo can't get shots off at all or very easily when going to his right because of his release and when he does go right its always to the rim.

Teams are going to find this out really quickly in the NBA and neutralize it. I don't know how else to fix this without changing his shots but as many articles have stated he's not interested in changing the shots and for good measure because he is successful with it so far. But in the NBA players watch a lot of film and can use this limitation quite a lot which concerns me.

Offensive efficiency will mean improved defensive efficiency. Opponents won't get easy fast break points off of bad shots.

Kyrie didn't really shoot many either according to that chart, and I'm sure Kyrie wasn't comfortable with it either and now he has a great jumper.

I'm sure he'll be able to add a variation of it as he develops. People said his form was ineffective, yet still was able to shoot 40% from outside. Maybe he develops a different type of off dribble shot that's unique to him.

Easiest answer is a step-back going that way or a half-spin shot similar to what Fultz does or McCollum does. You plant your front foot, pivot on your back and swing all the way around. It's a tough shot, but that's the easiest I can come up with. Another decent example is the post-up fall away shot that D'Angelo takes.
