I've been salivating at the thought of a Ball/Russell back court for a while. So glad to see it's looking like a real possibility now that we kept the pick! So much playmaking and both can catch fire from outside. It doesn't even matter whose technically the 1 or 2.

Have there been any reports on who Boston is targeting yet? Everyone's assuming they go with Fultz but they already have plenty of scoring/combo guards. I kinda feel like between the two of them, Ball would be a better fit for their roster than Fultz.

Boston can go one of two ways...Trade the #1 in a deal for Butler or draft Fultz because IT is Ball dominant.

Only speculation I have seen said it's likely Fultz because he'd be great next to Thomas, but it's way early. I hope they're super high on Fultz though be as I don't want him.

I hope nobody is under the impression Ball is unathletic. Ball is very, very athletic. He doesn't have the top end speed of Fox maybe, but he's very fast and very explosive.

Between the two it'll come down to which one the Lakers like more because they just bring different things.

It's crazy to think we could essentially build our future starting five plus a few good off the bench players via draft.

    #2
    Russell
    Ingram
    Randle
    Zubac
    Clarkson/Nance

    What a scouting department.

I think we're under the consensus the Lonzo is most effective for offensively for this team, based on how we're currently built.

However the stats may show for him defensively, I think he has a lot going for him to improve. He's quick, he's got size, and most importantly, he's competitive.

As much as I think Fox is better balanced on both ends of the floor, Ball's distribution and pace forward play puts him a head above Fox. Additionally, Ball's outside shooting helps spread the floor on a Laker team desperate for spacing.

This is great news! We have a ton of young talent, now we need PG to lead them.

    Agreed. I'm on Team Ball.

If Ball is gone at #2, the choice between Fultz or Fox is a bit more difficult, but I think I'd go for Fox.

Updated Draft Express Mock Draft May 16, 2017 at 04:48 PM

    http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2017/

They have us selecting Lonzo at #2 and Harry Giles at #28

    Giles Measurements

*Obviously tons of things can change at #28 with private workouts and more but just interesting to look at the mock draft today because Giles will likely be one of those available around that selection.*

Surprised to see Anigbogu be mocked so high, guess the 7'6" wingspan did it.

I was hoping he would be available at 28

Yep. Bynum is retired. I wish we traded him for a star guard instead of Dwight. Kobe was playing more SF anyway with his increasing age. Dwight, Pau, and Kobe all wanted to operate in the post. Not a good look offensively, especially in a D'antoni system. We wasted a ton of draft picks on him and Nash. This made a rebuild that should have taken 3-4 years and made it 5-6 years instead.

Both D'Angelo and Lonzo are the same height, so they can switch rather easily if both buy into a team defense concept.

Also, both are talented enough to trade for a defensive player if we need to.
