He could have had the most brilliant basketball mind of our generation, but no one would give him a chance because his name is Chaz, and he use to be a bartender

For all the s******* I did on Chaz, he was part of the regime that stole Clarkson, nabbed Nance, got Randle, Zu, Russell and Ingram.

TBH Mitch and co. drafted well.

Jim needed to have all of his eyes and ears inside the organization gone. This had to happen.

Pretty sure no one was giving draft credit to Chaz. I never heard of any. They left most of the staff in the department in place with minor rearranging, but Chaz is gone.

He was expendable, replaceable, and because the whole staff is watching their body fat %, we no longer needed a full time bartender

I'm watching the NBA Combine and Magic was interviewed and said they are looking to ideally preserve cap space till next summer instead of spending much of it this Summer.

Whether this happens or not, its just interesting and I am glad to here this.

I'm glad to hear that too if he's sincere, hopefully that means no going after damaged goods like Blake Griffin or playoff disappointments like Kyle Lowry.

feel like keeping the pick will factor into these decisions, right? if you keep it, you might be a little more interested in spending now, as next year's pick is gone no matter what. if not, i'd agree with not spending in FA--it seems like 80% of contracts signed in the past couple of years came with a heaping dose of buyer's remorse. low dollar signings seem to be the way to go. wait out FA and dig through the bargain bin.

I love Magic already. Read between the lines. He's setting a precedent to players AND GMs.

"we're not really interested in making big moves now". So if you want to come to LA or deal with us, it better be a good deal for us.

    I like it.

You know what that sounds like? It sounds like we're not looking to trade for George if we keep the pick. If we keep the pick, I wouldn't be surprised if we then punt on FA and just look for ways to dump Deng. We may even attach the Houston 1st to Deng and send him to Orlando or something in exchange for some kid they give up on or a future pick. That'd be a very good summer.

Good news for @Weezy who hates Lowry and anybody else who doesn't want to trade for George.

Now if we don't keep the pick, I think they go in a different direction and maybe blow things up?

Ha ha I don't hate Lowry. I just don't want to spend big money on him because he's available. I know we need to eventually get an All-Star here, but Lowry isn't that guy for me. I'd rather wait another year for better players to be available and go after them. I know that's what we've done in the past and it hasn't worked, but we have a new FO now, and signing guys just to sign guys stuck us with Mozgov and Deng so I'm not for that. I'd be all for spending money on a guy like Hayward, but no, not mr glass Griffin, and not playoff Casper Lowry. Reeeally hoping we land that pick now...

In my scenario, we're not just signing Lowry just to have him. He would be the precursor to bigger and better moves, but I hear you.

What I'm getting out of the recent quotes is that Magic and Rob know that George is coming here in 2018. That's what I'm hearing. If they're content to sit on cash, they're not doing it just in case like Mitch used to. If they're sitting on cash it's because they know someone is coming to take that money. What I'm getting is that if they keep the pick, they're going to basically punt one more year with the young guys and wait for a trade to present itself. If they can find something they like, they pull the trigger and then in the summer go after George and somebody else. The key is finding a taker for Deng and/or Mozgov somehow. I wouldn't mind attaching the Houston pick to Deng to send him somewhere. It's a good use of the asset.

I just like hearing that we've got a plan.

Here's another podcast with Pincus's take on the FO shuffle.

He goes into pretty good detail about Mitch and Mitch's shortcomings and strengths. It's basically what we all figured, but you get a little more insider look at what we all suspected.
