He was 230!?? Wow, yeah, that's fat compared to his normal training weight.

Anyone wonder why Snaq didn't work out in Miami long term?

Wade had probably just come off a roid cycle and couldn't believe it.

Anyone else feel a little uneasy about D. Russell now with this whole conditioning program and the expectations going forward? Like maybe it's all going to be too much work for him?

I can see why some might be, but I'm not. I don't think that the young guys (JR, Nance, DAR, and JC) struggled with putting in work. They all looked to have gained size and strength from last year to this year. I do think JR and DAR struggled a bit with nutrition though. JR had no energy, and Russ looked a bit soft. For all our young guys' sake, I hope we get someone competent in that position quickly and get them transformed.

I'm not sure. One of D'Angelo's problems has been holding himself accountable to those high standards, focusing every single play. It's possible the pressure that Magic puts on him to improve has an adverse effect on him like Byron did. It's also possible he accepts that challenge, puts a hardhat on, and gets to work. I sincerely hope for the latter.

It's going to be DLo's 3rd year. If setting the bar high to improve and come into camp in shape is too much pressure, then ship his *** out. I'm not concerned, but it's time these guys start to take that next step in their careers. Show us they have a bright future and should be here for the long haul.

This is the reason I put DLO in all my trade scenarios. I see the potential. DLO might end up being the most talented impact player on the team.... and he might end up being Brandon Jennings without the injuries. I can't call it right now. There are too many quotes from people in the organisation that make me question if he will ever have the mentality to turn that corner, and realize his potential. He has the wrong attitude, and hes too stubborn to realize it... so far.

Right now, I'm good if we trade him, and I'm good if we don't, but I know I want to keep Ingram and Zu at all costs.

I'm actually OK with trading anyone. It really all depends on the talent coming back etc. If we can snag PG with the pick, Randle and Clarkson...and then turn around and trade Ingram, Zu and Deng for Butler, I do it because we will need Russell to run the point. I'd actually consider Griffin too at that point. I think we are in a position where we need to be open to anything, and to be honest, prepare ourselves for anything. It could be uneventful, or our team could be in a position to compete for a 4 seed if things break right.

At this point, my dream scenario is we keep the pick, draft Ball and roll into next season with just that addition. Then sign PG-13 next offseason.

"Expendable" is different than trading him for an all-star. And I ONLY roll the dice on the Gingernator if we were to swing trades for Butler AND George because at that point, we are committed to a late 20's aged team and that window.

I feel like a big reason we are in this predicament is because we didn't cultivate young pieces for our future. In the future, they might be a corner stone, or a trade target, but one way or another, I'm not for trading all our youth just to become the Clippers.... Good regular season record, but competing for nothing in the long run, and little to no young talent because you've been middle of the pack or higher for years.

I think we have to keep some of the youth to cultivate past PG's prime... assuming we get him.

It occurs to me that two different people can deliver the same message with different levels of acceptance and success.

I see B Scott and Magic as polar opposites in the human relations department.

Magic can tell these guys he's going to work them hard, and after they run through some walls, they might still volunteer for push-ups. They are energized and desire to succeed.

BScott delivers the message, and everyone stops staying after practice, coming in early, or caring about the result. They are just "doing their time"

Spot on sirron. What you defined is leadership.

Byron comes from the old paradigm of leadership. The push in corporate America in recent decade(s) has been the empowering kind of leadership i.e. what Magic does. Funny that both Byron and Magic come from the same time period/era yet have very distinct styles.

Can't teach some things, or rather, some people can't learn some things

Exactly. PG + our young guys does not win now. In fact, it puts a shorter time table on our window because PG will eventually get old. Then we'd feel the need to unload more young talent to "win now".

In the end it'd get us a few years of competing and then back to where we are now. And don't assume we'd be lucky enough to snag the Randle, Clarkson, Russell, Ingram, Zu and Ball of every draft.

If we try to get PG we must realize that we have the leverage. Can't be desperate in negotiations. Offer them the Hou pick, Randle, Moz, and a future pick. That's a great deal. We can even take a s*** salary in return. Look at the DMC trade. We don't need to give up more than one young guy.

I still think the team hurt Russell's draft stock and the constant chatter from fans about dumping him for pretty much anyone isn't a bonus. I think teams will lowball us for Russell and that might actually result in him sticking around another year.
