What I have been hoping for. Kobe as time allows with his schedule working with selected players that have the mentality, potential and will to be great.
Well BI has no history with playing with Kobe, so it's starting off from a different place than Kobe tutoring Russ, or Clarkson. But more than anything, I think BI's coachable attitude is what will make this work as opposed to Russ's not wanting to be told what to do attitude
Finally was able to listen to Rob's interview. I loved what he had to say. He's a fan of the kids, but it's about trying to improve and if these kids don't come to work and improve, they're going to not be Lakers very long. I love that Rob and Magic and Luke are preparing to hold everyone to a high standard and to make sure these kids understand that there's no more coasting here.
Listened to Tarik's interview. From what I got, he came away from his meeting with Magic and Rob feeling that he thinks he's going to be here next year, but I forget that he's only 3rd year himself. But I always forget how great Tarik is at communicating. He sounds like a coach, or an experienced commentator on the mic. No matter how he does as a payer, he's got a hell of a future in broadcasting, or coaching, or something public speaking related.
So I watched the 4-5 hour telecast Spectrum SportsNet put on yesterday/ last night so I could listen to all the players exit interviews in full length. I wanted to make sure you guys got all these as well. (Not sure if you guys want to change the title of this thread to mention complete interviews on page 3) Below are links to to all our players so you can check out the ones you want in their entirety: Rob Pelinka - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...06890-170413_Rob-Pelinka-1367312_1280x720.mp4 I loved what I heard from Rob overall and he put my mind at ease if we do lose the pick. The rubix cube analogy in how solving one can be done 100's of ways and comparing that to creating a championship team I thought was insightful. I also thought the wellness program ideas and holding players and FO guys accountable was something really new and fresh. Luke Walton - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...12045-170413_Luke-Walton-1367253_1280x720.mp4 Luke's such a cool guy and I agreed with his answer to why Ingram training with Kobe both on the mental part and technical aspect can be so beneficial to Brandon. I thought Luke was insightful in explaining one of his weaknesses/struggles this year was realizing just how fundamental he had to be with our guys vs. his time with GSW all those players already knew how to set great screens, move off ball, use screens, fundamentals, etc..... Larry Nance - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...35732-170413_Larry-Nance-1367488_1280x720.mp4 Julius Randle - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...754-170413_Julius-Randle-1366639_1280x720.mp4 My favorite part of this entire interview was when he mentioned that Luke, Magic, & Rob brought up the need to improve on defense and not standing up in his stance as much, getting more down and watching film of Draymond. Randle seemed very agreeable to this and needing to improve in this area which I liked because these are the kinds of things that frustrated me the most this year was his lapses on defense and not being consistent enough. Also was interesting that he believes he can be in better shape than last year. Last off-season he said he was doing two-a-days so I'm curious how much better he can get conditioning and healthy eating wise. Nick Young - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...010209-170413_Nick-Young-1366304_1280x720.mp4 Haha, that was so funny coming into the interview $150 million, lifetime deal. Real talk though, everything Nick said in this interview I can say with pretty much certainty that Nick will not be back next year. Without actually saying he's going to another team he made it clear that's his preference in this interview. Can't blame him given his age and not wanting to come off the bench. This video doesn't show it but the telecast did when Nick was gone with the interview the camera was still rolling and Nick was telling Mike Trudell (sitting near by) in a joking matter that next year he'll be sure to say hi when they he plays the Lakers. Brandon Ingram - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...56-170413_Brandon-Ingram-1367204_1280x720.mp4 Quite interview but enjoyed the part about Kobe. David Nwaba - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...92861-170413_David-Nwaba-1367355_1280x720.mp4 Corey Brewer - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...9887-170413_Corey-Brewer-1366884_1280x720.mp4 I really like Corey a lot. His personality and how down to earth he is, and his skill set for this team I think is great and what we will need as far as a role player goes. Ivica Zubac - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...38788-170413_Ivica-Zubac-1367271_1280x720.mp4 I'm looking forward to summer league already. Not a fan of the traffic, but you can tell he loves it here in LA. parking next to magic was pretty funny in how excited he was. Timothy Mozgov - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...06-170413_Timofey-Mozgov-1366454_1280x720.mp4 I will admit, this was the only interview I did not listen too because all the other players seemed to enjoy the questions and being there and Mozgov wasn't a fan of some questions or his attitude seemed a little annoyed but I don't think this was because he was made, just his personality toward the media. Jordan Clarkson - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...9-170413_Jordan-Clarkson-1366700_1280x720.mp4 I think he definitely needs to get better on defense. Tyler Ennis - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...52612-170413_Tyler-Ennis-1367058_1280x720.mp4 I hope we keep him. Most we can pay him is $2.6 million I believe and he said he loves it here. Thomas Robinson - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...9-170413_Thomas-Robinson-1366529_1280x720.mp4 I don't think he will be back next year because we'll have Nance and Black (who I think we'll want to keep). This is of course assuming we don't make trade or anything else to mix up the roster. Tarik Black - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...64484-170413_Tarik-Black-1367143_1280x720.mp4 Metta World Peace - http://nba.cdn.turner.com/nba/big/t...170413_Metta-World-Peace-1366223_1280x720.mp4 Metta seemed a little down. Both Luke and Rob though in there interviews with the media said they would love Metta to come back in another capacity if he wanted to if continuing his playing career doesn't land him anywhere. D'Angelo Russell will complete his exit interview when he gets back in town but Magic/Luke/Rob wanted to give him all the time he needs.
Clarkson said he was going to improve/work on his defense last exit interview too. I don't have high hopes at this point.
Anybody know why there is no video of Deng's exit interview. Did he not show up, just like in the regular season?
Good he's pissed. Let's see what he does about it in the off season. If it's possible to do anything about it.
Weak, weak, weak and this is from the supposedly consummate professional. I know Porzingis didn't do an exit interview in NY. I don't agree with that either but at least I can see his point about the dysfunction in his team organization. The only person Deng has to blame is himself for the situation that he is in.
After watching how pissed Mozgov was in his exit interview, Deng probably made the right decision not to show up.
Inconceivable how Deng keeps hitting rock bottom, and finding the mining equipment to go deeper. Sounds like our veteran had the (Derek) Caracter to punk out on personal responsibility. But you know what Mr Wolf said about character,
Deng probably did not want to be criticized about being out of shape to begin with or be held accountable as a professional coming into training camp next season.
We'll see indeed... Geritol, walkers, AARP, assisted living facilities...maybe the morgue. I'm just irritated about this signing.
I literally bust out laughing each time I read this, and I've read it many times now. So matter of fact, so deadpan, lol.
