Tie for it would be best hope. Coin flip 50/50 virtually then. Give or take a ball after some tiebreaker. Not holding breath. Eff it go out on 7 game win streak to close the season and smack the Warriors again like the 1st game they played this year.

Would be a great look to end the season like Kobe dropping 60 in his final game.

I didn't say it was right , but that's where I'm at with this. Just not enjoying this season at all to be honest. And then to start winning now of all times, just another kick to me. Hopefully the basketball gods or whoever shine on us and we at least keep the pick.

I've been as positive as I can be all season long. I'm all out of positive spin. The team stunk. Again.

We're left hoping for a draft pick. Again.

Even if we get the pick, there's a good chance we'll end up in a spot where we don't get the guy we really want or the draft's true potential game changer. Again.

Were the extra handful of wins the other two seasons really worth not increasing our chances at getting Towns or Simmons? I honestly don't think so.

You know what. I'll just wrap this rant up here. Glad this season is finally about to end to say the least.

I do not understand how this debate continues to go on. Obviously losing is in our best interest, obviously we all want that draft pick, very few here have said "screw that pick we don't need it". But why are we divided as fans over rooting for wins and losses? I've been asking this, and how we are supposed to lose on purpose for 3 years and have yet to be given an answer. I feel like a broken record, me rooting for losses don't make them happen, same as me rooting for wins don't make them happen. So I'm going to root for wins and try and enjoy the games and whatever happens, happens. But I still remain baffled as to why we should be separated into camps and be angry at eachother for rooting one way or the other, when our rooting doesn't result in wins or losses, and it doesn't land us that pick. We're all fans, we all want the same thing, for this franchise to turn around, I don't understand the point in dividing ourselves, and fans getting angry at players for doing their jobs and winning games, it's completely backwards to me as a Lakers fan.

    ?

so, if we had lost a couple more games, we'd have towns? elgin, you've said you understand how probability works (and i believe you), but you're not showing it in your statements.

i'm going to be really sad when we give up the 4th pick in the draft, but i'm not going to be thinking it's because we beat sacramento once. it's because we didn't expect steve nash to break his leg before ever playing a game, kobe to tear his achilles, and dwight to leave money on the table to play with a bunch of losers in a mosquito farm from which he'd be (predictably and unceremoniously) dumped. it's not because we beat SA's B-team on a random night in april.

My statement was "Were the extra handful of wins the other two seasons really worth not increasing our chances at getting Towns or Simmons? I honestly don't think so. "

Didn't say we would have gotten him.

And I'm fine with folks not agreeing. If you're enjoying the win streak more power to you. Wish I could say the same but it's pretty bitter sweet for me.

Preposterous. The team is guaranteed the 3rd worst record.

Why the f*** would we keep trying to lose? Let's go out with some positivity.

i get that we need to keep that pick

but since when does having one of the league's top 3 worst records automatically mean lost pick? this team has done nothing but lose the past few years. i'm completely fine with enjoying this little winning streak

It's a toss up. After all this we could lose the pick, or we could even end up with the #1 pick. It is what it is, I'm loving the wins, we hadn't won 4 games in a row in 4 SEASON. That's way too long as a Laker fan to not have the feeling of anything even remotely resembling a winning streak, it feels damn good to have some fun again as a fan. You can say these wins are meaningless, but I don't know if that is true for all of these kids, these wins might be mentally important for some of our guys like Ingram. If we as fans haven't experienced 4 wins in a row in 4 seasons, imagine how it feels for our players to not have felt it either. At some point you need to break through as a young team and have something to feel good about and possibly build on.

everything i've read hints at this draft being pretty weak anyways

losing the pick this year could potentially not be as bad as it sounds

This draft isn't weak, but there will be some good kids in 2018 as well.

-Sure, there's no guarantee they'll keep the pick at the #2 position, but with so few games remaining, yes it's 100% better to give yourself the best odds as possible. These wins, while nice in the moment, are absolutely meaningless in the grand scheme of it all. Nobody is going to remember them. And we already know, if next season starts to nosedive we'll all be starting the tank watch yet again. For the umpteenth time.

-This draft class might not be the best to some, but it's an asset. Something they could use as a trade chip, or keep. But either way it would be something. Something tangible to have after another horrible season. Nobody is going to remember this little winning streak. But trust me, people will positively remember Magic or whomever they have up there on that dais, looking on with a dumbfounded face as they watch Philadelphia take their pick in about a month.

i heard this crap last year. And the year before. And before then. The draft produces 2 stars on average a year and the rest are good, bad and ugly. With one and dones, quick turn arounds are virtually impossible because NBA teams need to wait for their d******es to mature.
