Why because of making dollars match? Is Randle's salary in range of standard rookie contract for what ... top 5? Top 10?

I don't think it's a given at all that he gets drafted. Like I said: look at someone like Quinn Cook who was in a similar situation with Duke. He went four full years, had a tremendous career, but he lacks typical NBA athleticism. Cook hooked on in the D-League and got himself into the NBA that way, but he wasn't drafted. Someone might take a shot on Alford late given he's got some pedigree, but he's generously listed at 6'3" and 180 pounds as a SG? Tough sell.

Jorge Sedano, the ESPN710 spokesman, said it seems to him they're going to go get Ball no matter the cost. He says he doesn't necessarily have a source (although he started off hinting that he did), but that he sees the Lakers doing anything they have to so they can get Ball.

I had forgotten that Quinn Cook was also a 4 year player. I can see your point, but we'll see.

It's going to take more than that to pry a high enough pick to get Ball.

I wanted to watch Fultz too... Disappointed he couldn't suit up. UCLA just toyed with Washington last night. Varsity vs. the JV.

Yeah, that sounds more logical. In a rush to make a joke, I realized the Lakers would be nuts to use a high 2nd rounder on Alford.

I know your comment was made in jest as was mine to begin with. Alford will be playing overseas. He can score in bunches but as trd mentioned does not have the athletic package to make it.

I don't understand. That Ball fella seems like a DAR clone. Is he not?

I don't think so. They are nearly opposites.

DAR has great shooting form / Ball does not
DAR conserves energy on D / Ball plays both sides of the ball
DAR CAN rebound / Ball IS a rebounder
DAR is a shoot first combo guard who can pass / Ball is a pass first PG who is better at running the offense.

I think they will be an exciting backcourt as they grow together.
