Yea, I'm a Duke hater..but since they are on tv all the time here, I'll watch some games. Kennard I like..much like I respected and watched Redicks game. I wouldn't even have Grayson Allen on my board.

Funny you say that I was thinking Ginobili when I saw him. Not young Ginobili mind you, because he was a good athlete at one point, but Old Ginobili who kills teams with his smarts. Kennard isn't an NBA athlete though and it's sometimes hard to say if those guys will find ways to translate. There's obvious examples of guys who did, but plenty of guys who could never make the adjustment.

I don't want to draft anyone if we actually get the pick again. I imagine the #1 pick would be a hell of a trade asset to land a star and maybe unload Deng's deal. The #2 or #3 pick less so, but I'd still see what I can, tired or waiting for kids to develop, ready to cash in on some of our "assets". I'm fine with keeping guys we have (except maybe Randle if he could land us PG), but I don't want to add yet another top 3 pick. It's a long shot anyway, long shot we get the pick, long shot whoever we take is any good, tired of the crap shoot, give me some established players.

Tomorrow night we can see Fultz and Ball go head to head as Washington plays at UCLA. Personally I'm more a fan of Ball, but of course I happen to be a Bruin, so there's probably some bias there. Regardless, I'd be happy if we landed either of these guys.

I actually agree, but we've got at least one pick in the draft so I'm just trying to know what's out there and figured I'd try to help readers here get a quick feel for the players whose names they'll be hearing in a couple months. If we get to keep the pick and we can realistically flip it for George, I'm all over that.

I'd trade Clarkson before anybody. He's basically just a one track mind to just try to get his points off the bench. Doesn't attribute to the game all around. Which goes back to Magic saying they have players that do the same thing.
I'd package Clarkson, #27 pick and Deng if it gets out of Deng's contract.

But if Lakers get top 3 again..I'm keeping it. and drafting best player available of the 3.

Ball, Russell, Ingram, Randle, Zubac is a great future..but it's not landing a playoff spot

Flip Randle and Clarkson for PG13 and everything changes.

I'd do Randle & Clarkson for PG13...but it's not enough.

I'm not including Russell or Ingram in any trade for George, nor the top 3 pick if the Lakers get it.

Play PG13 at the 4? Lakers would be a poor rebounding team.

Oh I wasn't trying to sound like I was down on your draft board or anything, I actually read it and enjoyed it. I was saying personally if we get our top 3 draft pick I'm calling and shopping it immediately, trying to use it to get a star, or a very good 2nd tier guy, not gambling on yet another top pick developing in 3 or 4 years. The Houston pick, I think we should absolutely be watching the draft boards in the mid to late 20's, because while we could trade it, we often do end up using that pick to draft a player.

It might be enough this summer if George tells Larry he's outta there. It wasn't enough at the trade deadline, sure, but things change when you start to risk losing a star for nothing.

    I got you.

Me and @RandleROFY have definitely been predicting a move like this. I have a feeling the Paul George stuff comes to a head this summer and if we land the Top 3 pick, it's going to Indy. A lot will depend then on what else goes because the pick won't be enough. Even if George continues his vague threats about LA, someone like Boston (especially if their pick is better than ours) will probably offer a better package than just the pick. We'd have to do something like Top 3/Randle/maybe Zubac maybe the Hou 1st... Something like that.

Or hey maybe we listen to Paul's advice and keep the Top 3 pick. Maybe we can turn Randle/Hou 1st into another valuable piece and then move on from that standpoint making it easier for George to make the jump.

This is going to year 4 of sucktitude. Randle has one more season before we have to make a decision on him. Is anyone here comfortable with that? I would also trade the pick. You can only stockpile so many young players.

I think Clarkson goes out in the George deal in order to match up salaries. We would want to send out as much as we take in so we maintain a max slot. Send out Clarkson, Randle, Brewer and the top 3 pick for George. That way free agency gives us George, Russell and Ingram with a max slot open.

Worth noting is that it doesn't always take top picks "3 or 4 years" to develop. Towns, Porzingis, Booker, Wiggins, Oladipo, The Brow, Beal, Lillard, Drummond, Kyrie, Kemba, Klay and others were balling quite well in their 1st or 2nd year. If not for injuries, Embiid would have likely been the same. Naturally it'll take longer to "fully develop" but just saying shouldn't outright assume whoever we pick can't help right away or at least the following season and is just adding another young player.

Not that I am opposed to trading the pick or anything as I have clearly not been.

I wouldn't trade Ball (or anyone else in the top 3) as part of that trade. No way I'm letting that player go. Especially when we can get PG for free in another year.

We *could* get PG for free in another year. I am not in the camp that seems to think this is guaranteed to happen.

True, but I don't see Indy coming up with any FAs to make them contenders. His other choice is us. Russell, Ball, Ingram, Randle, Zu and him is a nice start. I just don't see the need to gut the team. Especially with someone like Ball who I think will be fantastic. I'd have reservations about trading a top 3 pick for him straight up. (I'd probably do it, but I'd think twice).
