I still don't even understand why we would release him unless he went straight to Luke and said he wants to play somewhere else
I thought it was to give us more options. Do we want to pick someone up to give them a chance like a Dleague player or someone to see if they can make it in this league. Luke and the league in general already knows what Calderon brings to the team. This is the same reason why they made the trade for Tyler Ennis IMO. Let's see what Tyler's got in Luke's system and if he's going to get some PT in games.
Looks like he wants to play for a title. Maybe he asked out so he could go to a winning team. Warriors released their current 15th man, someone I've never heard of (Weber?), and Kerr said they will sign a PG.
I figure the Lakers are trying to give veterans on our team a chance to go find ways to compete instead of wasting time here.
Win Win situation. We lose quality vets/depth to help the *gulp* tank. Save a few bones, gain some goodwill, and it's past the point of getting anything back. Young players get more burn knowing there is noone there to back them up or come to the rescue. Not that it was happening either lol.
So point guards will be Russell and Anus. Good. Now Russell can get 35-40 min of burn. BI is starting to get that, as they should. Time to see what they got the rest of the way.
