    I've turned off the emails notifying me when I get an Alert (someone replies to a thread I posted in), yet I still get these emails. Anyone else having this problem?

    I don't want to have to disable a thread every time I post in a new one...

    Apparently you don't need to - you only do this once.

    Go to your account;

    http://lakersball.com/account/

    Under settings on the left go to 'Preferences'

    Uncheck "and receive email notifications of replies"

    Uncheck "and receive email notifications of replies"

    That is what fixed it for me and I still have all of the alerts on. This stopped the emails.

    I tried using the link in the emails to stop receiving emails, that didn't work. But when I unchecked the box in my profile (see lakerswiz instructions above) that has worked for me.

    Barns - is this a default setting that we could change across the board? I think it's likely that most could elect to not receive emails for every reply.

    I can change it so that new users (people who register from now on) only receive alerts and not emails.

    When I first created my account, I got the emails. I clicked for it to stop. And they have. However, if someone posts in one of those original threads, I get an email.

    That might be what others are experiencing.

    That looks like it should do the trick, thanks.

    On another note, I just liked lakerswiz' post, and instead of doing so automatically, I was redirected to a page asking me if I wanted to like the post. That was a first, not sure if anyone else has run into that.

    If something like that happened, then it most likely means that the corresponding script hadn't loaded before you liked a post. So there's no problem. :cool:

    I actually just did get an email from a thread that I commented in BEFORE I unchecked the boxes. Looks like you might have to go back and stop watching those threads and then we should be in the clear.

    I'm looking through the controls to see what might be causing this.

    Found some instructions for fixing this. Need to see if it works. Thk and I are looking into how to implement it.
