Caveat: I GET HELL WEEK. But I'm still pissed at Byron for running them insanely on the very first day of practice and contributing to Kelly not being available this year so far. Rather than 90% of insanity the first day and ramp from there. Yeah I get he injured the other hammy too in coming back. But I was really looking forward to an improved version of Ryan Kelly this year. Still am.
The only thing I really remember about this guy was that he missed some huge free throws down the stretch against us when we play the Rockets this year at there place which helped us pull off the big win. Thank Black for that, and I hope you can bring more defensive intensity to our ball club now.
If it's any consolation, Saiver stil I like Ryan's game. If he's back Friday, we'll have about 50 more games to see him develop. I want him around for awhile...
what kind of deal was black on? I can't remember how waivers work--if he was on a multi-year deal with a team option, the lakers might have the ability to retain his rights on the cheap if they claimed him, no? I only say this because morey tends to lock guys in for multiple years with team options.
I think it's two years at league minimum, non-guaranteed. I think Pincus Tweeted that earlier. BC we claimed him on waivers, we inherit his full contract (still non-guaranteed).
I thought I read it in this thread, but maybe in the Yahoo story where I got wind of Black first, we have option or capability of retaining him next year for medium high hundreds of thousands to right around a million per year. Or slightly over. Don't want to go looking around as am getting ready to watch Lakes vs Phoenix on time shift. Love time shift.... give it an hour's head start and reduce every commercial and half time to mere seconds. Nothing but the game.....
Good move. X is done anyway. I like the guy, but he's not doing anything this year, and this is a young big with talent so... why not? What do we have to lose?
http://www.clublakers.com/lakers-discussion/laker-scouting-reports-t115206-300.html Scouting report from Rydjorker...not very good.
Thank you for the info RandleROFY and obviously Rydjorker. The report is quite damning, but does not say anything untrue as such. It says Tarik is a non shooting, non assisting, non stealing player who has conditioning issues. The line saying he does not belong in the league, seems a bit harsh, I still have faith he can do something for us and be fun to watch. At worst he sits on our bench. I am inclined to think he will be of some real use, and hopefully Black can read this scouting report and use it as some fuel to wreak some havoc. Come strong #28
good news on the contract. I'm tired of having guys who if they work out, it doesn't really matter because it would require eating up space to keep them (e.g., ed davis). super low risk, and if he plays well enough to be a backup big, the lakers get to keep him on the cheap for one more year and use his early bird rights the following year without killing space that might be required to go get some starters.
Oh nonsense..... Rydjorker is never bullish on our players. Here, check out this amazing video demonstrating his wide range of skills: I am joking by the way. Apparently that ^^^ fired no one up about his potential. And like Rydjorker says, he was measured similar in height to Randle at 6' 7.5" no shoes, 6' 8.5" with and 253 lbs by the Clippers during his workout. Not 6' 11" as Rockets have him at. Does seem to play more above the rim though than Randle. Whatever. At this point X can give us nothing.
rydjorker is almost never positive about our signings, but that doesn't mean he's wrong in this case. The truth is the guy went undrafted for a reason. There were 60 players in the world that teams thought were better than him. Most of the time there's a good reason for that. In this case I think the kid has some talent, he's got some fire, and although he's undersized his physicality helps make up for that. Reminds me maybe of a Carl Landry type.
I wasn't responding to anyone in particular mi amigo. Also, can't watch videos at work... I'm supposed to be working... shhh...
Man I'm out of touch with this new generation of 13-15th bench riders in the league. I have literally never heard this guy's name before.
