It gets us a 27 year old All-Star in George to go along with keeping our 3 best young talents in Ingram/Russell/Zubac - and while I am not one to overhype young talent, I'm fairly certain at least two of these guys will pan out enough to be a solid #2/#3 on a strong team. While still maintaining depth with Nance, Deng, Mozgov, Brewer and (Black or T. Young depending on which iteration you are referencing). I'd say this particular position is significantly better than where we are now and where we would be if just stood pat and kept stockpiling young players.

It gets us ready to be a low playoff team as our players enter their prime. It could be in the process of building a dynasty. Stars can always bolt, but he'd be leaving $$$ on the table.

As great is PG13 is, I'm not convinced he can be THE guy. I'd rather roll the dice on Fultz/Ball and let the team grow together but that's just me.

PG has been THE guy for Indiana 3 of the last 4 seasons - the exclusion being the year he was injured of course.

In 2013-2014, the Pacers won 56 games and made the Conference Finals. He averaged 21.8ppg 6.8rpg 3.5apg 1.9spg. No one else on the team averaged 14ppg. He was tied for 2nd in rebounds, 2nd in assists and 1st in steals and threes made.

In 2015-2016, the Pacers won 45 games and lost in the 1st round to the Raptors. He averaged 23.1ppg 7rpg 4.1apg 1.9spg. No one else on the team averaged 14ppg. He led the team in total rebounds, steals, threes made and was 2nd in assists.

This year, the Pacers are 29-28 and 6th in the East. He is averaging 22.3ppg 6.2rpg 3.3apg 1.6spg. No one else on the team is averaging 16ppg. He is 2nd in rebounds, steals and tied for 2nd in assists and 1st in threes made.

PG may not be Lebron but he's clearly carried the Pacers on his shoulders to whatever success they have had these 3 seasons and doing it without frankly that much help. This season is probably his best supporting cast but even Teague/Thaddeus/Turner are still lesser than what other franchise players have by their side. I think he can be THE guy on a contending team. He just needs the type of help that anyone in that position - be it Lebron, Steph, Kobe, Shaq etc - needs to win a title. I think BI/Ingram/Zubac can be that type of help. I don't know that they can ever be PG though and that's why I'd trade for PG because well, I know he can be that.

If Roy Hibbert doesn't go Kwame on him then Paul may have had a ring already or at least been to a Finals.

Let me clarify: THE guy on a championship contender. George is a great player but I don't see him on the level of Westbrook, Harden, Paul, Curry, Durant, LBJ, etc.

I would think given Dlo/Ingram performance thus far, one wouldn't souly think just cause someones a #1 or #2 pick they'll automatically turn into the likes of westbrook, harden, durant, etc. At this point, we'd all be pretty stoked if Ingram turns out like PG, hell Dlo looking more like the next Evan Turner than the next Curry

Probably doesn't even make his teammates better like some other player we used to have didn't either.

I don't think George is on their level either but none of those guys are available last I checked. To win in this league you need studs. George may not be top tier but he is at close as it gets. Plus he was far and away THE guy on a 56 win team that won 2 games in the Conference Finals, so he has that capability of carrying a strong team.

Essentially we are just collecting talent in the hopes that one of these guys becomes as good as PG is. If you can get PG now - without giving up any of your top 3 talents in BI/DAR/Zu, which is the discussion we are having right now - then frankly you'd be crazy not to do it. If anyone is going to be on the level of the above stars, it's going to be BI. It's not going to be Randle, Clarkson and we'll be waiting a while before we know about whoever we would theoretically draft in 2017 with that top 3 pick. You don't pass up a chance to trade a proven star in his prime because you want to hang on to your 4th/5th best talents and a draft pick in a draft that doesn't have a consensus future stud.

I'll concede on existing talents, but from what I've seen, doesn't this draft have several future consensus studs (Ball/Fultz)?

If Embiid wasn't in the Rookie of the Year discussion this would be BY FAR the worst group (so far).

Dario Saric is averaging 10.8 to lead the group.

Ingram not hitting decent % of his shots yet translates to him "looking lost most of the time"? Seriously or you just being glass empty guy again? One step forward ...then two back.

    You're right. Drafted in '14.

#3 in scoring is Yogi Ferrell, who has been drafted by Brooklyn, cut, picked up on a 10 day contract by Dallas and finally landed a 2 year deal.

Yeah, I wouldn't say Ingram looks lost. I don't think he looks overwhelmed by the moment either. He oozes composure. His shot just isn't falling and he lacks aggressiveness. Shooting is correctable. Aggressiveness is something that just might not be part of his game. He can still be effective.
