If I had to guess, Indy isn't even entertaining these talks unless they start with Ingram. They probably settle for BI + 1 of Clarkson/DLO along with Nance and the Hou pick. I would hope we can hold on to Randle, they might settle for Black or Zu, which I wouldn't be thrilled with but no dealbreaker. From our young core, I think we end up holding on to Clarkson, Randle, Zu or Black. I wouldn't exactly call it gutting the team. Adding a young superstar that other superstars would love to play with has immense value for a team in our situation.
I'd give up both DLo and Ingram for George if the trade was somehow arranged to allow us to dump Deng or Mozgov. A trio of Russel, Ingram, and George sounds potentially pretty awesome though. Enough so that I'd be willing to gut the rest of our young core. Clarkson, Randle, Nance, Young, Houston's 1st. That'd be a good trade for both sides IMO.
Nicholson's contract is awful. I'm glad we took the Houston deal even though Houston's pick may a little lower.
Speaking to everyone that keeps trying to call us out... Good lord will you all please drop it? We've gone round and round on this for months. I see Moz's contract as a nessesity of the moment. We disagree and it's ok to just leave it at that. Everyone doesn't see things your way and everyone doesn't need to. Please stop trying to call out everyone that disagrees with you all about Moz/Deng. We're all entitled to our opinions
If we're giving up one of Russell or Ingram for George, I move BI. They play a similar position, and Ingram is further away in development from reaching his ceiling. For the record, I'm still quite high on both DAR & Ingram.
I had a feeling this was the issue with Washington's 1st rounder. I didn't want that contract either. Ideally I didn't want Brewer's too, but it's at least a palatable deal.
Yeah it was just an example. The one that makes the most sense probably is Ingram. Something like Ingram/Clarkson/Black would be a great return for Indiana.
Love Ingram, but I'd do that. We can only hope Ingram turns into PG. That still leaves us Russ and Randle to either play next to PG, or to use in another trade for another all-star, plus Nance and Zu.
Because of Nance, I'd almost rather give up Randle than Clarkson. Ingram, Randle and maybe Black's expiring should be enough. We would need a player like Clarkson since we no longer have Lou.
Yep. Plus Houston's 1st. Wonder if they'd hold out for Nance in that scenario. Or make us take on Monta's contract.
I don't trust Nance's health enough to give up Randle if I don't have to. Plus, like I said, he's a good trade piece, has to better than Clarkson is, I don't give up 2 assets like that in one deal if I don't have to. As inconsistent as Randle has been, Clarkson has been just as bad if not worse, and he seems to have reached his ceiling, is already older.
Wait till summer, if the lakers get a top 3 pick it give the lakers a lot more leverage. I still think he signs with the lakers next summer though, Imagine keeping all of our assets and signing PG
I'm keeping BI, you cant teach that length and physical traits he has....Dlo mentality and personality doesn't seem to be good enough for him to be great. BI can be that quite assassin and playing/practicing against PG13 can only further him along. PG wasn't great off the bat, wasn't a high pick, some thought it might have been a reach considering he went to a small time school. Imagine what Indy would've looked like had they not trade for Hill and kept Leonard (if thats who they would've drafted)
I'm with Khmrp here, I'm loath to give up BI. I think in 3-4 years no one on this board would include his name in any deals and we aren't doing much in the next 3-4 years title-wise. I think every GA is going to try and pick him from us and I hope Pelinka and Magic don't bite. Also BI can be matched up with virtually any star at any position. Indy would clean us out for PG.
I agree that there is no need for recriminations. But it's a matter of fact that the Mozgov contract is a debilitating catastrophe and there is no room for opinions on this.
