Or at least get McDaniels instead of Brewer....also an expiring but at least he has youth on his side

maybe trading Lou to an Eastern Conference contender would actually lower their chances of being able to win against the Lebrons....

hmmm, maybe this guy Magic is onto something....

Not sure how to post the tweets, but just saw an interesting one. We traded Lou to the team of his choosing. I think that is a very respectful way to do things when it's been made clear you want to trade that player for a pick.

As I mentioned - suck as much as possible to retain the Top 3 pick + get the young talent as much burn as possible.

But isn't that why we're paying Moz/Deng a combined $32M per year for the next 3.5 years? We needed to pay Brewer another $8M to do that in 2018?

I'd much rather prefer to have either a cost-controlled young player with a glimmer of upside OR cap room flexibility this summer.

    meh

was hoping they got a 1st rounder from a weaker team. this is basically an early 2nd rounder

lou for sessions+1st rounder from charlotte would have been better. oh well, better than losing him for nothing

As many reporters have said on twitter, the Lakers wanted a 1st for Lou, and they got it. The hope is that we also keep our top 3 pick. If you have 2 first round picks that is a valuable trade asset on draft day, and if you have a top 3 pick as one of those it can be very valuable. Now we have to hope for a lucky bounce of the ping pong balls yet again.

I like the defensive improvement. Our lack of defense is painful.

Because they had to make salaries match. You could accomplish the same with empty cap space, except that cap space give you more options this summer.

If we ignore that and just look at 2018, we're basically hoping that someone will comp us a draft pick in exchange for an expiring Brewer for what is likely an longer, undesirable contract. We don't need more of those on our books..

...so is Johnson still 3 for 4? This is a walk...using your baseball analogies. :)

At least we got a first rounder. Would've loved higher but we did as well as we could have given the offers. I'm glad the opportunity was still out there for us to do so given the timing of the firing. Moving Lou for a first was something that needed to happen and they got it accomplished.

It matters because these kids need to see how its done. They need a vet to show them how. Jimmy thought deng would be that guy but he looks like hes 45 years old out there
