West is on record that he will not be part of an organization at the expense of someone else. He was/is close to Kupchak who learned under him.

Rob Pelinka would be a great choice! I didn't know he was the 6th man from the FAB FIVE.

That's the same kind of talk that polarized a ton of people for Mitch & against Jim Buss over the years, and I simply won't buy into it. It comes off incredibly convenient to simply credit all good moves to other people you like in the organization rather than the 2 guys running the show. At the end of the day, the calls on draft picks were Mitch's & Jim's and they've made a lot of great moves. Every team has scouts. Luckily, we seem to have some very good ones.

Yep, he was their designated outside shooter. 24 probably recommended him for the position.

I'm not really disappointed in Jerry West not being in our plans. He's one of the best, but we don't know how long he wants to do what he does, he's getting up there, we need to go a little younger. I have no idea if an agent makes a good manager, I'm not sure of the precedent for that. I like Portland's GM though, I'd hope we go with someone like that if possible.

Connections...navigating the complicated negotiations of free agency...the salary cap. Pelinka should be well versed in those fields.

Just wanted Jerry in the room. He wouldnt need to do anything he didnt want to. I still say you pay him to just be in the room. He has earned it. His presence is huge.

Just FYI: if Jesse and Ryan have a voice in the room, they're an advocate for our young players.

I don't know how much that matters, but you never know...

Bob Myers was an agent before he became the GM of the Warriors. It seems they are doing just fine.

I'm totally OK with parting with one of our young pieces. 2 or more is insanity unless James, Westbrook or Harden is attached to it.

Cool, I figured it had happened before, I just wasn't familiar with specific situations. Gotta start somewhere, like gcc and others said, he knows stuff that would lead into being a GM. I wasn't trying to sound down on the move though, I was genuinely saying I didn't know if it was a good or a bad thing.

I'm ready to make big changes. Get rid of Russell or Ingram. See what Clarkson can get us. Test the Randle waters. Send Lou for a pick. We need a viable talent who can attract other players. That's how we get back to relevance.

So we'll probably hire the guy who fleeced Jim and Mitch for Kobe's last contract?
