yes he was but from what i've heard, the lakers success in drafting outside the lottery has mainly been ryan west's doing, not mitch

No, this has been frustrating. This has been a rebuild. This has not been "hell".

"Hell" would be to be the Memphis Grizzlies: Mediocre playoff team with no championship contention, capped out, no lottery picks, and no light at the end of that tunnel.

In the NBA, you'd better be a title contender or a bottom-feeding lottery team. Elite talent means more in basketball than any other sport. One or two excellent draft picks swing franchises.

Mitch & Co. haven't been perfect, but they've gone from losing Dwight & Pau for nothing, with no young talent, to having quite a few talented young prospects with some flexibility moving forward. I haven't loved everything they've done, but it's really easy to see that the situation could be SO much worse. You saw what the Kings got for Cousins a few days ago, right? Or how about the stories bleeding out of NY every other day about how miserable Melo & Co. are.

Yes, franchises are run into the ground quite regularly. The Lakers have absolutely not been one of them. Not to rehash everything, but extenuating circumstances have led to some tough times in Laker Land, but going from the hand of nothing we had a few short years ago to now having Russell, Randle, Ingram, Clarkson, Nance, & Zubac is nothing short of remarkable.

Look out for a "star" coming here in 2 days. Also say "goodbye" to 3 or 4 players from our young core.

we are in a position for future success, there's no doubt about that. but there have also been some very questionable decisions that tell me that a shake-up was necessary

when i say hell i mean all the losing the past few years, it's gotten really tiring

I don't know about "as much." For instance, I think we're heading in the right direction, and I was pleased to hear that the players who were being shopped were being shopped and the players who weren't weren't. I was also happy with whoever was pulling the trigger on drafts.

The reaction to this in here is more surprising than the actual deed. There was a Jim Buss deadline 3 years ago. The deadline was honored. As far as Mitch, well, I will always love Mitch but Mosgov and Deng after all that had happen was the final nail for him.

Magic is an orchestrater. That is how he has been so successful in his business practices. Other than owning the Lakers, this position he has now is why he has turned down so many offers to run teams. He is a Laker, true and true. I have full confidence he will bring in the right people and steer the ship the right way. Magic and his people in a room pitching the Lakers makes me more comfortable now. It wasn't for 4 years. It was bad actually.

My hope is that the Lakers promote Ryan West and get Jerry over here as a consultant as soon as his contract ends with GS in July. Jerry, Ryan and Magic in a room pitching the Lakers changes everything. It was time. Regardless of trade deadline or not.

i just hope magic doesn't rush to trade our young studs for someone like carmelo. that's the only way i see this franchise being worse off with magic than it was under mitch/jim

    russell/randle/ingram/clarkson are the future

Yep...what concerns me is a possible impulsive move for a "quick fix" that will be good only in the short run.

But why are we continuing to credit jim/mitch for the draft when there are multiple stories saying the draft has been due to ryan west and the other buss kid?
