It wasn't just Smith vs. Ball (which I think Ball is superior), but Ball under Patton is criminal. If you want to argue Tatum, Isaac, or Monk I can listen. It's wrong, but I'll listen. Patton over ball is just silly and it's done to create conversations like this.

I'm not that high on Smith. I see raw talent, but the same mental lapses that Fultz has. He's a more athletic, less talented version of Fultz.

Same. If we could only trade for a top 9-12 pick ;-).

Ball's Dad just said he'd be better than Curry.

I was watching the game and the interview happened. I laughed...so did the commentators there and at the PAC-12 Studios. Montgomery did say that at the same stage being their freshman season, Ball is better. His father went on to say he would be not surprised if ALL of his sons will be in the NBA All-Star Game.

Ball's dad seems to be a pretty bad "stage dad". He's the dad berating the coach at a little league game for pulling his son out of the game.

He would be a reporter's dream... Imagine this guy railing at his son's teammates, the coach and the organization? In a way, it is not good for his son who will have the target on his back heightened because of comments like last night.

I'm still leaning towards Fultz...but difficult to ignore Ball's impact on his teammates. Pass first, pass second and pass third approach. Ball hits the glass for rebounds, always looking up to move the ball up the floor. He can be also a decent AND willing defender as he exhibited in the Oregon game as he took on their best scorer in Brooks.

And he's the dad along with basketball playing mom that let Lonzo grow up with that effed up shot which will be a big problem in the NBA. Kid really needs to get him to shut his mouth with the press but that may not be possible.

I watched a slow-mo of Ball's shooting mechanics... It starts with both hands at just about chest level, then upwards, drift slightly to the left and release. It looked like one of those tosses at a Seattle fish market. Ball also has to incorporate a step back motion to separate himself from a defender.

His dad would be absolutely annoying if Lonzo ends up on the Lakers, the LA media would love him even more than they do now.

Fultz is the pick I think if we had a choice of both.

I like Ball over Fultz and Smith but I'll take any. Pretty much why 75% of my posts since joining this board have revolved one way or another around keeping the pick.

Personally, I'm hoping it becomes moot.

IF (big IF) land an All Star, how will they take tanking? Probably not well. Mitch and Co know this.

The tank is in, so IMO, we trade Lou for a pick, tank the rest of the way, and try to flip picks and players for a stud in the off season.

I just don't think you can tank and get a top 15 player and expect them to buy into non-stop losing.

Apparently to make room for the new Kings players, the Kings are waiving our good friend Matt Barnes, who was averaging 10.9ppg 9.1rpg 3.6apg in 31.6mpg in the 8 games before this trade.

Now THAT is how you tank.
    • Trade far and away your best player for peanuts
    • Dump a productive veteran in Barnes for nothing
    • Shop your other veterans, including the highest scorer left in Collison
    • Commit big minutes to Buddie Hield and Willie Cauley-Stein and call it "youth development".
    And boom goes the dynamite.
