The timing with Magic right before the trade deadline once again cuts Mitch and Jim off at the knees.

...other organizations are looking at the Lakers and thinking it's in flux, disarray.

So far we know Magic largely endorsed B0ron as a coach here, has said his first call would be to Kobe for a position, and now he says HE recommended Isaiah to the Knicks. I'm scared...

Yeah. I mean, it was a nice 30 year run. I was around back in the Threatt, Lynch Peeler days. That felt different. There was never this feeling of hopelessness. This is different. Unless Ingram turns out to be a superstar (which I find unlikely) and/or we keep our pick and Fultz becomes a superstar, I see no way we dig out of this. Our front office is in complete disarray and the owners are the problem. Bad GMs and coaches can be fired. Owners can't get fired. Asked the Clippers.

I started watching the year we got Van Exel. It did feel different. In Nick's 2nd year he was averaging 17 and 8 assists, Eddie Jones was a rookie and averaging 14 and 2, and Vlade was also doing his thing averaging 16 and 10 boards, as well as Ceballos putting up 22 and 8, we were a playoff team. We weren't a title team, but we were good and very much still respectable.

Haa, that's because Jim is afraid to speak publicly. He's been hiding since he had the job.

Deep down he has to know that he has no credibility and no one really gives a **it about what he has to say. Remember he was clowned by the fans at summer league last year. Bye J.B.

"John Ireland said Magic has the final decision maker job and Jim and Mitch are interviewing to keep their jobs. If true that has to be the weirdest interview ever between Magic and Jim. Jim being an owner means he is Magics boss but has no power. How crazy to be able to fire your boss but still technically be under them."

Seen this on Reddit; can anybody confirm this?

I haven't been listening to John as much as I used to be able to. I would say Magic likely on Monday will figure out if the team needs to fire both of them. I'm not sure that means Magic has final say though, I think he's just Jeanie's attack dog right now.

    I do too.

I wish Jeanie would just make it official and get her brother out and put Magic in if that's the play. The timing of this is horrible by the way. Right before the deadline? We're doing this a week before we may need to make a major move? Fantastic. Seems sort of like when Jeanie had her Mouthpiece put out a hit article on Jim right before Free Agency.

A buddy of mine suggested that maybe Jeanie overplayed her hand just as bad as her brother did. Maybe she's not as capable of kicking Jim out as she thought she was so she's having Magic drag him through the mud in an attempt to flush him out in embarrassment?

The timing is very bad. I thought this would wait until the summer and been sorted out; not during the season and especially a week away from the trade deadline.

It reeks of Jeanie; trying to sabotage Mitch and Jim yet again.

Jim has to be embarrassed, and I am not even a Jim fan; she is forcing his hand. Magic is certainly playing his role well, too.

...agree that this potential management overhaul couldn't have come at a bad time. As noted in other posts, potential trade partners will attempt to lowball us given the unsettled situation at the moment. Where the positive could be is this off-season's free agency period with Johnson along with Kupchak's replacement (?) will be there to conduct meetings. I assume whoever it is will be more up to the times with presentations.

I'm not a Jim Buss fan but man do I feel sorry for him. Now I'm not sure I'm much of a Jeanie fan either. Her timing has been awful for free agency and now the trade deadline. She's embarrassing her brother and dragging this team further down into mud.

At first I was okay with Magic coming on as an advisor but ever since his week long parade through all the media outlets, I'm more weary about his position. I just want whatever musical chairs they've are playing to hurry up and finish so we can move on to fixing this broken team.

LOL. Jeanie's timing is awesome... as always. Too bad Doc couldn't clone himself, his kids will "kill" this once great franchise. I don't want to see some shady, russian millionaire ending up as the new boss but damn.
Watch out for some BS trade just for the sake of making changes. Good thing Melo has a no trade clause. Otherwise he would be rocking p&g, while Randle, Russ and Junior pack their bags for big apple.

And once again I start worrying that we lose a 2nd West who has grown up in the franchise and been groomed by his HOF dad all his life and Mitch in the FO ..... if Magic f**** all of that up. Of course Ryan would still have his dad, the legend and the genius to consult with, blood being thicker than Warriors or Lakers, if he were promoted to the position, rather than some "hot shot assistant" from another franchise.

Promote from within... I would assume Ryan West will be retained and given bigger responsibilities on top of whatever he has now. ElginTheGreat noted how the franchise will need that individual to navigate the contracts, salary cap implications and what not so decisions are made efficiently and financially as well. It could be the young West...
