Why would somebody trade an All Star for Russell or Randle? They haven't been consistent enough to warrant that kind of return.

I guess this is how you coach when you have too much mediocre talent unworthy of playing 30+ minutes a game

    No likey

If you have nothing nice to say, you must be a Lakers fan right now.

I don't think we need a defensive coach. I think we need players willing to play defense. The scheme is there, but these kids don't want to run it.

Thats the trick question...don't want to run it or unable to run it...or both. My gut feeling is both because none of these guys was a defensive gem ever in his life to turn into one now.

This team is so bad I couldn't care even if I tried .

Four seasons of pure garbage , a LOT of talking about improvements , this and that but nothing done on the B-ball court .

The thing is I will post the exact same message one year from now

    Thats actually funny and true.

    My main gripe is

Is this team better now than it was at the beginning of the season? Maybe even this is unfair because the league figured us out and we were playing above our heads.

But can we truly say this team is making progress? Is this team better than they were a month ago? We have now seen close to 50 games and I'm not sure we are getting better. There is always a different hole...first we can't start well but the bench is great...then we can't finish well...then the bench sucks...then we suck in the 3d quarters...then we suck in the 2nd quarters...first we always "fight back" and catch up, then we blow 20 point leads....at some point we lose close games, then we get blown out with 40 and almost 50 points on 3 different nights. We play defense one game, go completely naked the next game...same with the offense and passing etc.

We aren't improving consistently at anything.

Anyone getting annoyed with the kids? A lot of talk and not enough walking.

what is the scheme? Cause any time any one of our players gets screened, it turns to utter chaos, either someone gets an easy dunk/layup or a wide open 3pt look.

Again: that's not the scheme, that's the players failing to execute.

A bit. I'm a completely biased D'Lo Stan, so I'm willing to give him a longer leash than any kid in this league deserves. It's not a fair or logical position, but it's the truth.

Having said that, Randle is starting to get to me. I'm sure I wasn't alone in seeing/hoping him in the Draymond role in our new GS offense....But the shooting isn't there, the defense isn't there, the passing isn't there and most importantly, lately it seems, the fire isn't there. It's very disappointing to say the least.

Nick did. Tailed off in the past 20 games, but he was playing his butt off on D earlier in the year.

The Lakers FO wants to talk about the youth movement and moving on from the Kobe era, etc. but what we have seen in the past 1.5 seasons is a stop and go approach where yes it's the young guys time, but it's not all the time and sometimes the vets needs time too.

This is one problem that the FO needs to address immediately. What are we? A young team on the rise that is all about the youth movement (See Philly, Minny, Phoenix) or are we a vet team that's trying to make the playoffs? This in-between some nights it's the young guys and sometimes its the vets playing is not developing the youth, it's hindering it.

One problem with this back n forth identity is that these young kids aren't learning how to take their games to the next level, how to develop that killer instinct, how to win in the NBA. We've seen the young guys make clutch shots and we've also seen them stand around watching vets (Lou, Kobe, Swaggy P) without getting involved. Luke wants to run this GSW offense, but doesn't realize these kids have been trained to stand and watch someone else make a play, not go out and make a play themselves. Everyone on GSW has that instinct that it's team ball, but I'm getting 30 and shutting down the other team if given the chance. These young guys don't have that, IMO partly because no one has empowered them with the fact it's their time, but rather if the vets are hot, you get the back seat. The vets are supposed to be a safety blanket, not the driving force. Tonight was a perfect example of last season and what's wrong this season. Young guys don't play that much, Lou ISO's all night and everyone is left standing and watching. There is no development there, it's the same crap as last year and it's a step backwards in the development and empowerment of these kids.

I sincerely hope that Lou, Swaggy P, Moz and Deng all get shipped out or at least benched with minimal minutes and these young guys finally get the keys for good. What irks me is that the FO wanted the playoffs through vet additions and recently Luke says it's about the young guys now......ITS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT THE YOUNG GUYS. Give them the freedom these other young teams have.

DAR/JC/Ingram/Randle/Nance/Black/Zu should be getting every single possible minute that can be drained out of this season and the vets should be filling in here and there. Having it the other way just defeats the purpose of the ultimate goal of developing these kids into a championship core.

I don't care if the young guys get blown out every night, we need to find out what they have, when fully given the keys so A.) We know who to pay which is coming up sooner rather than later or B.) If we need to make moves to because these young guys don't have it. The worst thing we can do is have these young guys with question marks when it's time to dish out new deals.

I'm just rambling now and kind of making excuses for the young guys, but I really feel like we should be past this vet ISO ball and that the young kids should be in sink or swim mode and given the keys to fully reach their potential and step out of the shadow of having to sacrifice time for vets.

Bottom line: Let the young guys play in the system in starring/lead roles + Vets taking the back seat to fill in not overshadow + Embrace the youth movement by you know embracing the youth

If it fails, it fails, at least we will know which young guys we can depend on going forward.

Pretty much where I'm at at this point. I hate to sell on them too early, but it's better than selling on them too late.
