Deng/future 1st to chi for Wade

    Who says no?

Wade is a better vet pressence with the shorter contract. Hes a place holder star till ingram or whoever becomes that star for us. Deng can retire a bull, allows butler to go back to his sg spot.

    Hells yeah

Wade will opt out, we save huge. No downside I can think of.

    *edit*

Of course I think soon our future first round draft picks won't be amazing, but then again our drafting has been stellar in the second round.

But to get rid of that noose of a contract, I definitely would.

Hoopshype (check out @alexkennedynba on Twitter) is reporting the Lakers are not interested in trading for Jahlil Okafor.

Would any of you welcome Jahlil? Many laker fans wanted Jahlil on draft night 2 years ago. He's still got a great post game but none existent defense.

I think if the Lakers were to pitch an offer, the 76ers badly need perimeter help and it would likely take a combination of Clarkson + Nick young or Lou Williams for them to consider.

In addition to that, we somehow need to get rid of Mozgov so Okafor starts and Zubac/Black takes the rest of the reserve minutes.

    Too much hassle to work?

I was on the Okafor bandwagon, but his defense was always a concern. We can't afford to downgrade our defense any more. I'd pass UNLESS we got rid of Mozgov and had to give up essentially nothing. So, in reality, nah.

No there's no more need for Okafor here with Zubac's emergence.

Mr. Olshey, you still need a scorer off the bench; we will gladly take one of your 1st round draft picks for Lou.

Exactly - affordable salary. Make it happen. They could use him at the backup 1/2. Right?

Yes. They need another scorer off their bench; especially if they want to make the PO'S.

We have some expirings; I wonder if we can do something that makes sense for both the Lakers and Trail Blazers; giving us a 1st a potential couple of nice players we like on the Portland roster, and the Blazers some salary cap relief.

A little surprised Denver did this. A key reason for shopping Nurkic was they are set at starting C with Jokic. While Plumlee is a better player than Nurkic, they gave up a 1st round pick to essentially have the same problem at C. Except Plumlee is a FA this summer whereas Nurkic was a year away from FA. Perhaps Denver has plans to play Leonard and Jokic together. I guess they'll have the rest of this season to figure that out.....

As for Portland, anyone who has read my posts on the subject knows I'm in favor of trading Lou for a 1st round pick. So I'd definitely pursue this option. Portland taking on the 7 million owed to Lou could be an issue, so definitely have to factor that in.

    How about:

Portland trades: Festus Ezeli and 2017 1st round pick
    Lakers trade: Lou Williams

Why for the Blazers? They don't take on any additional salary next season - in fact they save about 700K - by swapping Ezeli's contract for Lou. Ezeli is out and hasn't played for them all season and they are fine at C with Leonard, Nurkic and also Ed Davis, Vonleh. So basically this is a straight 1st round pick for Lou Williams swap, which gives them a significant bench upgrade.

Why for the Lakers? As noted, I'm in favor of trading Lou for a 1st to get that asset and free up PT for young players. However, I also see value in taking on Ezeli. His being hurt and out this season isn't an issue for the Lakers who hardly need another C. That said, if healthy next season Ezeli is the type of defensive presence the Lakers could use in a tandem with Zubac. I like Black but I think Ezeli is a better fit. This would allow the Lakers to trade Black this summer as a capable backup C on an expiring contract.
