Sad reality is that the Lakers are the ones who would have to include a pick to get even a desperate team to take those contracts off our hands.

    Bloated contract + crap production = :DNO2:

Lets hope the next CBA offers some early buy outs or amnesty cuts.

Russell should have been coming into the game at the midpoint of the 4th quarter instead of staying with Lou.

The next one in 7 years? The new CBA I thought did not include amnesty cuts? Maybe for some here they will get lucky and some hot day this summer Moz and Deng inexplicably will act like MLB players and get drunk and go high speed boating together somewhere way too close to hard structures or rocky shorelines?

Bump from the second page. (That's a good sign though right?)

Heard from Trudell on the radio. After tomorrow's game we would have seen all the eastern conference teams on the road already..... before the all star game.

It would still eat up $30m per year for four more years.

WMC: I hate this team right now. I hate their attitude, lack of pride, lack of competitive fire, pathetic defense, and I don't even know why I keep tuning in to suffer. We are not improving, we are turning into the 76ers, perpetual losers with no idea how to win. Yeah, we passed our win total from last season already, but we still might only match our win total from 2 seasons ago, and we only will do that because we overachieved and starred 10-10. Since then we have been absolute garbage and I'm sick of it. I know our players are young, but the lack of urgency or fire in the play of guys like Randle and Russell is pissing me off. They may still be great someday, but I'm no longer against trading everyone on this team not named Ingram if it means we land a franchise player that gets us back in the playoffs, or at least respectability and is a guy others want to sign here to play with.

nobody has shown enough to be untouchable in the trade market. everybody should be available for the right price, imo. that price is a current top-15 player, and one could argue you should trade the whole lot for that one guy if possible.

If the Lakers end up with 27 wins, is the season a success?

If the end result is the young bucks saw a ton of playing time and it led to progress towards the end of the season AND the Lakers kept their Top 3 pick, then heck yeah.

I think so. I had hoped for 30 but we got decimated by injuries so I can set the bar a little lower. I think 27 wins, and the developing of our young guys under Luke's system is a success regardless of what happens with the pick because that is only luck.

why so much? I thought it was remaining salary divided by 5 yrs of equal pay and if they get picked up by another team doesn't that off-set some of the cost with the difference from their new contract?

Top of my head aren't they about three years, $100+m left? Stretched over four years, that's 25m+. Not sure how cost defraying works if they're picked up. Lots to sink for zero production.

    http://www.basketballinsiders.com/cap-101-the-stretch-provision-and-offset/

this link says you stretch waive over 5 yrs, ref. Josh Smith stretch waive with the pistons and then when he signed with Hou, his Hou salary was off-set with the remianing owed amt from the pistons. I think someone would pay Luold 7-8mill for a few yrs, while Tinafey might get another 3 yrs 15-20 mill type contract.

I think it's actually more favorable for LA. You can stretch for twice plus one year depending when you waive, so apparently the Lakers could stretch these jokers over seven seasons if they wanted. See Coon's FAQ.
