Time for this team to do less talking and just go out there and get after it.

No energy or chemistry. When things get bad, the team tends to point fingers at each other and the refs. There's no one on the team that's willing to do the dirty work.

You know what drives me crazy? Seeing players unwilling to take the ball out of bounds. What the f*** is that about? Just inbound the ball. Is there some sort of stigma attached to the player that inbounds the ball? Just do it!

A game that we should have won and needed to win to get back on track. It was close but disappointing. I'll chalk it up as a growing pains moment but we really should have come out on top. Every winnable game is important for our future.

Not even really considering the possibility of us keeping the draft pick. And honestly, no matter who we got folks would just spend the whole year complaining about them as they went through the normal ups and downs of a young player.

Probably, but I think that is the reality we are facing.

As things stand right now, that's mathematically impossible. Right now we're in the 5th spot. That gives:
    8.8%-1st
    9.7%-2nd
    10.7%-3rd

    26.1%-5th
    36%-6th
    8.4%-7th
    0.04%-8th

The only way the Sixers could end up with the 4th pick would be if we finished 1-4. Of course that'd also increase our own odds for keeping the pick. The likeliest scenario is that we finish 6th or 7th overall and that means giving up a 6th or 7th pick.

yeah, if the lakers continue winning on the pace they have been since the 10-10 start, they could very well end up dead last in the league. but given all available data, i think the lakers look like the third-worst team in the league, with bkn and mia in full tank mode and likely staying at the bottom. in this case, the lakers could give up the 4th pick.

dallas, philly, and minny have been playing near .500 ball for a while (a stretch similar to the lakers' start) and thus are trending in the right direction. i had hoped the lakers would have another uptick like their start, but their play of late has not inspired that confidence.

hence, my fear of giving up the 4th pick (essentially, being the worst team that didn't win the lotto).

Smdh at Boston potentially winding up with the overall number one pick. In either case they still wind up with a top 4 pick.

yeah, that hurts a lot. i thought both bkn and the lakers could make up in motivation (because they're unlikely to keep their pick) what they lack in talent--at least enough to get out of the cellar. i was wrong. it helps boston that bkn's management isn't on the hook for those bad trades--they can consider them an already sunk cost and not fight to avoid giving them (i.e., make more short-sighted trades to keep from giving up a high pick, thus saving some face).

Does anyone know how many more picks we owe to teams? It seems like every year since the Nash/Howard trades we owe protected picks to some team.

I think that's possible, but (being the resident optimist) looking at the schedule we should win more games on the back nine so to speak. More home games, less traveling, more time between games, lower levels of competition.

Our odds of keeping the pick:
    Last- 64.3%
    2nd- 55.8%
    3rd- 46.9%

I'd take those odds if we had to I guess. I mean what else can we do?

    We owe a 1st to Philly (2017) and a 1st to Orlando (2019). I believe we also owe a 2019 2nd to somebody.

However, if we keep our pick this summer, then we owe a 1st to Philly (2018), and the pick we owe to Orlando becomes two 2nd round picks instead of a 1st.

So we just keep owing picks until they fall outside of protection? Or are we done with owing picks in 2020?

great move by Ainge but it took an even more MORONIC GM on the other side in King to produce this result. Its unfortunate Mitch/Jim do not have that kind of forward thinking. Bos wont be contenders to Clev IMO even if they get the #1 pick but they can package that pick now with their other picks they owns and they have alot of fairly lowered paid and highly productive players like Crowder and IT (yes we could've gotten this guy for the same rate but we choose to chase after frivolously dreams of luring Melo)
