prior to the injury, i thought russell was doing a better job getting into the paint and looked stronger with the ball. randle's jumpshooting seems marginally improved to my eye.

but no, when you're watching porzingis playing like a legit superstar last night, then you look at the lakers' haul from three years of garbage basketball...you get pretty sad.

Offense isn't our problem, we can score with the best of them if we move the ball and not rely on ISO.

But our defense is outright atrocious. I really hope Luke drills that into their minds. .500 ball could very well escape us even more in this upcoming road trip.

It starts with the right and sound strategy :

    - We got burned by Rose : going under the screens instead of switching would have been the better solution

    - We switched against Porzingis but then sent double teams at him , I don't understand the concept here

    - Doubling Melo was not necessary too .

    Luke has to improve here

Seems like most on this board were picking right around 30-32 wins this season. Now after over a month of dealing with big time personnel losses and being at a pace for 32 wins instead of 41 wins like 6 games ago, it's time to freak out? Every one of our top players went out during this spell except for Williams: Randle, Russell, Nance, Black & Calderon. Any coach would call that insurmountable. This squad needs to be at full power to function like Luke wants. Lighter schedule starting Jan 1, less roadies, more bad teams, with a full squad things will flip.

I'm not freaking out, this is what I expected. I predicted 20-30 wins this season, accounting for injuries, and for the bumps in the road a young team is going to have. Like you said, and I and others have said, this is a roster that needs to be pretty injury free to succeed, because we are a team that has to win as a team, we have no star or superstar to carry us. I think when we jumped out to a .500 record and were beating some good teams and got to 10 wins like a month or more before we did last season some people started to see playoffs as a possibility or even a .500 record to end the season, but I never saw playoffs with this team. .500 record seemed unlikely but at lest possible with the good start, but like said in the predict our win total thread, we won 17 games last season, winning 30 or so this year would be a pretty big improvement with a pretty similar roster.

    3rd quarter and refs.

Side note: watching a lot of basketball this season and the officiating seems a lot worse this year. So many stupid calls. So many missed calls. And can we stop with favoritism for certain players. This rant can go longer but yeah...

Yeah pissed at the refs but more pissed really at the lack of defensive effort and urgency in that 3rd quarter. That's where they lost the game. They got Brooklyn and Philly coming before Cavs on Saturday. Really hoping we're not staring at a 10 game losing streak by then.

My wmc is people acting like this damn near historic string of injuries had nothing to do with our current struggles. We were the 6-7th seed and trending upwards before these injuries. It wasn't coincidental that's when we started losing. The league didn't "figure us out", right as many major pieces went down.

Another, separate thought is that you never see gsw or the Cavs have 3-4 main pieces down all at once. Probably had something to do with fouls actually being called for those teams.
