What did the sitting president tweet out about it?

So Trump should tweet about it, but not Obama?

Again, Trump's job right now is to gather his administration and prepare for day 1.

If you're gonna get mad at his tweets you're in for a long 4 / 8 years. I've resigned myself to the fact he's going to keep sending out stupid tweets. someone should close his Twitter account. but blaming him for not tweeting about Oakland isn't fair. He's doing what he should be right now -- the task at hand.

I'm just saying in general ,John, he is to be our president.

My issue isn't so much that he's not sending anything about Oakland, that's just an example. My issue is his immature reactions to small things like that. If his head was really with the task at hand, he wouldn't be sending out any tweets at all.

If you're holding out hope that Trump becomes Presidential. You're going to be sorely disappointed the next 4+ years.

Another reason why i voted for him... I don't want him to act "presidential" he just needs to be a president...

Do you guys think there is something inherently wrong in a politician/president using Twitter to release statements? Or is it just an issue with Trump specifically using it because he has a history of being careless with his words?

Just wondering, because I think generally speaking, Twitter is pretty great and I like the idea of the President using it often to give us more access to his thought process.

Nowadays, most of the people I know my age get all their news from Twitter anyways. Whether it's Trump tweeting it out himself, or Trump releasing a statement through official channels and then CNN tweeting out a link to the statement and an article with their spin on it, I'm getting it all from my Twitter timeline the same.

Twitter gives a politician a massive platform to send out their message, unfiltered and without lining the pockets of the mainstream media. If you take Trump out of the equation, that's a good thing.

    It's Trump.

If this was Mitt Romney or John McCain, it wouldn't be an issue.

No, not at all. There's even an official @POTUS account that Obama used during his term.

It's what Trump is using it for that's really disturbing. Basically attacking anything that doesn't fall in line with him. He's pretty much a Twitter Troll. From the Ted Cruz comments about his wife, to the I told you so type of remarks during the Orlando attacks, to getting in fights with Alec Baldwin.

There's one thing to be unfiltered and defending yourself, then there's being a future president of the United States and thinking about the ramifications of what he says in the Twittersphere that could cross boundaries and cause an issue...over Twitter.

I was reading an article about Trump being named Time Person of the Year and then seeing all the Twitter posts by him attacking Time for being a horrible and failing magazine. LOL

Not to brag, but I was named Time Magazine Person of the Year in 2006.

I think Democrats need to contest the nomination of Scott Pruitt to head the EPA.

It'll probably be unsuccessful, but clean air and water are worth fighting for IMO. Out of all Trump's nominations for cabinet and department heads, this irks me the most(to the delight of many here I guess).

Putting a shill of the oil and gas industry in charge of the EPA is not cool. Of course, these are the same people complaining scientists are fudging the numbers because they are getting rich off of that big ole' government grant money...

Isn't this exactly how the government works? The two parties putting shills in charge of stuff?

Doesn't have to be. Trump could put someone in charge who isn't suing the same agency that he was nominated to lead and pretty much opposes the mission of EPA.

Just be happy I wasn't elected President instead of Trump. I would have eliminated the EPA altogether, along with a boatload of other agencies that have no business being an arm of the federal government.
