Telling you guys Luke isn't like Phil at all with individual set minutes and set rotation minutes for that bench of ours. He played them more than the starters with that beatdown of Atlanta last night because they were HOT. Of course we were missing 2 normal starters but if the game had been going the same way with them in there he would do the same thing.

Our bench unit is awesome. They don't even have a true PG and they put up points, they simply seem to gel perfectly as a unit. Also, no matter the total # wins we end the season with, to be .500 at this point is pretty amazing for this team. After 18 games we are already more than halfway to our win total from last season. If you'd told me we'd be 9-9 at this point before the season, I'd have said I'll take it.

From those Jeremy Woo SI article quotes near bottom of the prior page .....

" Dreaming of a first round series against the Clippers, yours truly, Jeremy."

Could you even imagine this town if somehow we stay healthy and keep getting better and miraculously get that 8th spot and were to meet the Clippers in that matchup while we're on that roll in the first round? And then actually pull it off?

    :Mindblown:

    It could happen right? :Crazyartest:

Yeah I was thinking the same.. There's a better shot of a 4-5 matchup than Clippers being #1

It'll have to be the 2-7 matchup. While it is my "realistic" dream scenario, I still think it's pretty far fetched. We are about to enter a fairly brutal stretch here. If we're still within a game or 2 of .500 after the next 12 games, I will start to believe the playoffs are possible. That's not me trying to discount anything these guys have done so far. They are playing great ball and the improvement from last year is utterly shocking, but playoffs is still a longshot. As well as we've played, we are only a half game in front of the 9th place team. I realize we will get better, but other teams will find their grooves as well.

The fact that I even called the 2-7 matchup my "realistic" dream scenario shows how optimistic I am. :Shaqwink:

There's a clear lack of talent right now without D'Angelo and Julius, our two best players and yet the Lakers still compete every night and with the exception of a couple of games have been in every ball game. They don't quit. They don't lay down. Continue to fight and play the right way.

While I agree with the talent drop off with DeAngelo and Julius, I think Lou has actually been our best player this season. Without Lou we likely have 5 wins. And that's coming from a guy who said we should trade Lou in the offseason

I love Lou and he's definitely the best scorer on this team, but in terms of our overall play I would go with those two. They just need to hold down the fort a few more weeks until D'Angelo gets back.

Not sure exactly where to put this, but it does help the Lakers playoff chances

they are -13.8 per 100 possessions with Conley off the floor, not good at all. They stand to lose a ton of games coming up. Lakers could pass and put some distance between them and the Grizzlies in the next 2 months. And you know Marc Gasol has a 3 week stretch he is going to miss games at some point.

    Fractures in his back? Yikes

That sounds frightening. What happened to him? Did he get in a car accident?

Damn these schedule makers! 4 games in 5 nights on the road, gonna be tough.

Pelicans have Jrue back and better than they were early on. Chicago and Raptors are solid playoff teams, watch Butler and DD go off. Memphis lose Conley but still dangerous.

Considering it's the optimism thread, I say we go 2-2. We just have to play hard, that has proven to be keeping us in games and maybe the ball bounces our way.
