we got paid to take on his salary...anyone expecting anything out of him hasn't been paying attention. If he's getting big minutes, we're gonna be losing a lot.
His name is now "no play Jose" It seems like a deadly three point shooter, could be useful especially when D'Angelo is having his sloppy spells. Jose, Jordan Clarkson, Nick Young, Nance and Black for example would be a fun lineup I think for half a quarter.
I've loved Black since his first laker legendary game where he was playing on a Mark Jackson "Mama, there goes that man" level lol. If Black was on the Warriors they'd be an instantly better team. Imagine if we got a Thompson on our team... that'd be the guy that would actually be happy to be a laker if he had to get moved.
This is why we signed the dude. His combination of threes and assists is awesome even in limited minutes. His 3PM + AST per 36 is 8.0, bested only by Russell (9.8) and Williams (8.7), but Calderon does it in 17.5 possessions, roughly, vs. 29.0 for Russell and 26.7 for Lou. 3pm+ast/Possession = % Calderon 8.0/17.5 = 46% DAR 9.8/29.0 = 34% Lou 8.7/26.7 = 33% (Okay, Huertas's line is also bizarre: (Huertas 13.1/29.5 = 44%).)
He was no puss wrestling and fighting all night while also dribbling around the key and inside a lot.
I hope Luke can find a spot in the rotation for him when Russell is healthy. He knows how to set the floor for the team, but most importantly he's just a deadly three point shooter. I know we have a few really good shooters, but I think Calderon might be the best of them in terms of playing off ball and getting in position for good catch and shoot opportunities.
Beat me to it KH. So if we do move him eventually at the deadline we REALLY came up off the original trade.
